I just saw a perfect gift for me. A new smart-looking Logitech MX-500 optical mouse. It's great, it's flawless, it's Logitech, it's... right-handed god dammit!!! I really hate it. Why can't they make a left-handed version? There're lots of left handed people and I doubt a cretion of a simple mirror-image to be too expensive. This sucks. It would make such a perfect gift. All I could get however is lousy MX300 which is rubbish in a new wrapping. I really hate it. Now I think I have a slight idea of how a minority member feels when he's discriminated.

    Phew, just venting, move along...

Does it have to be Logitech? I've used an MS Intellimouse Explorer for years and never had any trouble. Maybe they do a sinister version.

It's just that I'm using a Logitech Pilot Mouse right now and it's the only mouse so far I had no trouble with. Still I really like what MX500 has to offer. I'll check out MS mice nevertheless - perhaps I'll just find something similiar.

Bah! I've used a standard Microsoft Wheel Mouse for years, and never had a problem. It's a basic mouse, with a wheel, that's comfortable and easy to use, with not much to go wrong with it. And nothing has.

I never really understood the need, that some people exhibit, to get only the best, most technologically advanced, and expensive, piece of hardware available. In the end, it does exactly the same job.... :-?

See Ferret I don't have a wheel in my mouse and that's the main reason I want to change it. And the new MX500 has quite a few nice features in addition to that one.

I've got an Intellimouse 4 (I think?) Optical, with wheel - if you're going to buy a moose*, buy optical - I got mine, with an internet k/b, for $99 (AU). And yes, it is NEUTRAL, and very comfortable.

*Yes, I could edit this, but...

Yes, an optical mouse does basically the same job as a mechinical one but without the shaking, poking, banging and mat ;)

Are we assuming the left-handed scum are of a different race?

Yep I know I noticed that but didn't bother to correct it. bah

I really wish I were a US citizen. I could then sue Logitech for minority discrimination and get a few million $$$ :D Here in Europe I would be just laughed at.

I have an 7 year old Microsoft mouse that works fine, the only thing it lacks is a scroll, wich is the only new feature that i think has been usefull since the invetion of the second mouse button.

But it's an aberration. Balls' place is in the middle on the bottom of the body. Not on the head.

I use a MS Intellimouse Explorer. The one that's grey and laser. Although, I'll probably have to get a new one soon, mine's about 2 years old and may pack it in soon. Although, the warranty IS three years :D.

The mouse on the computer I'm on at the moment is an entirely different story. This piece of shit computer has the crappiest mother board ever. The mouse has to be serial, and there's only one company that makes mice with wheel buttons and a serial converter - Kensington. Stay the fuck away from them. They work BETTER when the insides are choked up with dust. I kid you not.
