 You might want to look at my first post. I thnik I'm guilty as well, although I did try and rectify that with helpful suggestions later.

Riddle Master, why don't you copy and paste all the relevent posts (ie. the riddle ones) into a new thread in the General Discussion forum?

I'm back! Thanks to all of you!

How I could contact Jinxed, Calis or Oyarsa?

    (Sorry if this sounds stupid.)

    Private Message (PM) them.

The easiest way to do this is to click on the name of one of the mods below the forum name (ie. on the forum index page, there are the links to 'General Discussion' etc. and below the description you see more links in the name of the moderator(s) of that forum).

These links take you to the profile page of the moderator in question. You then simply have to click on the PM box on the contact info on the left hand side of the profile screen.

Type in a subject. Type in a message. Click submit.

    Simple.

Riddles are in general discussion now.

"Join each of the following, and so form a link:
    The ocean, a sight-orb, a kind of a drink.
To that add a question but one word in length,
then read me the answer, if your mind hasthe strength."

And anyone can post riddles here.

Damn, I got the C and the Y bit, but I am, it seems, rather bad at riddles! (I tried palantir, crystal ball etc. for the sight orb. You get my drift?)

    It is city.
    Then, a simple math problem.

"Take the colors of the rainbow, and multiply by three.
Subtract from the past tense of eat, it's easy as can be.
Now add a three-digit number, a synonym for "ick",
add three more;divide it by the corners on a brick.
    What number am I?

    7 * 3 = 21

pt. eat = ate = eight

    8 - 21 = -13

    n + 3 / 8

    (-13 + n + 3)/ 8 = 20?

Luchaire, how does 'ick' translate to 170?

It's not Roman numerals, because there is no 'k'.

Grrrr... I read part of it wrong. I read "subtract 8" not subtract FROM 8.

    *sigh* Oh well...

(oh... and for Ick, I used 144 - a gross)

My approach is that "ick" should be deciphered taking a number which corresponds to a given letter in alphabet:
    i=9
    c=3
k=11 >since it's eleven they can't be written one after another (9311 since it'd be a 4 digit number) so it they should be added (not a strictly 3 digit number but a number created by adding 3 digits) > 23.

-13 + 23 = 10 and three more. If we simply add 3 then it's 13 and doesn't give a neat devision result. So perhaps "three more" should be deciphered as 1+2+3=6

    10+6=16
    /8
    =2

Damn, it's first riddle here I'm having problems with.

OK Luchair, taking 'ick' as 144:

    7 * 3 = 21
    8 - 21 = -13
    -13 + 144 = 131
    131 + 3 = 134
    134 / 8 = 13.75

13.75??? That can't be correct! Can it?

Maybe this was a typo. Maybe it should have been "Subtract from THIS the past tense of eat...."

That would make more sense - the final answer would be 20.

(I prefer to think someone else made the mistake, as anything else would mar my infallible self-image  )

If it's not a typo, then the only answer I can come up with without really horribly stretching is the 13.75 posited by Ferret.

    Oops... My mistake
It should be: "...Subtract from that the past tense of eat,..."

And synonym for ick is gross, gross is 144.

    7*3=21;21-8=13;13+144=157;157+3=160;160/8=20

Anyone else want to ask something?

Yeah, I checked the dictionary and there was no "ick" word. So how is it with ick being synonym for gross?
