    Gold it is.

Beaten can be explained by that the gold is one of the softest metals.

    Next one:

What work is it that the faster you work,
the longer it is before you're done,
    and the slower you work,
    the sooner you're finished?

    Clockwork?

If you're fast, then time passes more quickly and it's later when you finish, but if it's slow, then time passes more slowly, and it's sooner when you finish.

If the answer wasn't already given, I'd have been tempted to post "Ass?" as an answer...

Anyway, I'll stop derailing this thread now.

Perhaps no work, meaning that there's no such work.

I heard this one a long time ago. I believe the answer was "roasting meat on a spit."

If you turn it fast, it will take a lot longer to cook than if you turn it slowly.

    Correct Luchaire, next:

Tell me what a dozen rubber trees with thirty boughs on each might be?

Only thing I can think of are tyres. Maybe a 12-wheeler lorry. The boughs could represent the wheel spokes.

I'm back now. And I have a riddle.

    "Voiceless it cries,
    wingless flutters,
    toothless bites,
    mouthless mutters."

Hoho - now we have TWO (count them, two) riddlers. This is fun.

Gambit, I think the answer is: a genetically modified crop of rubber trees.

All I could think of for Gambit's is "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumper" said real fast, over and over....which I know is wrong, but did evoke a long-lost childhood memory. Thanks Gambit! :D

I can't figure Riddle Master's out either. Oh well. Another day, another brain malfunction.

Answer for this one is: Wind

It ain't a genetically modified crop of rubber trees nor 12-wheeler lorry, and not "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumper" as Windmills wrote.

And since I answered for this I'll post another so you still can have two of them:

A hoard of rings am I,
    but no fit gift for a bride;
    I await a sword's kiss.

    Chainmail +1!

And I don't think Riddlers should answer each other's questions, heh.

*points to the tzeehoong's post, just above Fatmans last....

Errmm...Think the answer is chainmail. It could be a row of gay men, bending over....Wow. That certainly inspires images of extreme homo-eroticism, huh, Milo?

I wanna know the answer to the damn rubber tree one...
