Perhaps not many or any of you were big fans of it, but I really liked Dungeon Siege. I think it's one of the more enjoyable games from it's era, and a bit better than most anything today.

I thought that Dungeon Siege looked cool but I've never played it. As it stands, I'll assume Dungeon Siege is worthy of a replay.

I've watched the film, and it is definitely not.

Wasn't it pretty much a Diablo Clone with like three skills?

Wonderful graphics and sceneries (for it's time). Sometimes, I'd just stand still and watch around for couple of minutes.

As far as I can recall, Dungeon Siege is the only game I have ever given up without finishing. I think I got as far as the ice caverns. Normally I would admire a game for reducing unnecessary micro-management, but for me it went too far the other way. It felt like I was watching the computer play the game all by itself, and I just had to make occasional equipment choices. It got boring.

Second game is way more enjoyable than first, except its' main balance problem is that the further you play, the easier game becomes. With 10 seconds stun from 2h warrior + 10 seconds from archer + 20 seconds invis and immunity to curses buff from nature mage you won't meet unbeatable enemy at all.
Oh, and unlike Diablo series it has very user-friendly interface.

I only ever played the second one, got pretty far but then the game crashed and corrupted my saves. Never touched it since, was fun though.

Think steam is selling the trilogy cheap.

Dungeon siege was, for some reason, a game I enjoyed the multiplayer continent/map/whatever more than the actual "main" story.

I guess it was because I hate games where you control entire parties of people. Probably the same reason I didn't like Dragon Age and the same reason I often don't take followers in Arcanum.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I really liked dungeon siege, I just preferred the other mode better as a single player experience.

I rarely take followers when given the choice in most games. I always find they get in the way or make things too easy/exploitable.

I much prefer party-based games. For me, Baldur's Gate struck the perfect balance between a character driven story and tactical combat. Icewind Dale had the combat but not the story, and most other RPGs, including Arcanum, have an unsatisfying follower system where it's difficult to control them. I was sorely disappointed when the successor to Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, used a limited henchman system instead of a full party.

I prefer games that are turn-based. ToEE had the combat six ways from Sunday, but lacked in everything else, Keeping track of what a whole party does in RT is just tedious, and why have RT with pause when you can construct RPG's the way they were meant to be?

Oh, yeah, I prefer turn-based too. I can't keep up with RTS games, so find those even more frustrating. I played Baldur's Gate in pseudo-turn-based mode, i.e. leaning on the pause button the majority of the time. Wizardry 8 was actually the best turn-based party-based tactical combat game I've played. Not including Final Fantasy X and X2, because I'm not a girl.

(Even though swapping dress spheres between Yuna, Rikku and Paine was hella fun! Squeee!)

I beg to differ! Final Fantasy IX is the bee's knees, and was by far my favourite of all the one's I've played/watched relatives play. I can't comment on anything after that because I never bothered with them, but if they re-released FFIX with a graphics update I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

It is widely accepted that X was the last good final fantasy.

Square agrees. Square has refused to remake FFVII until they've matched its quality in a separate game.

I'm the same way, oddly enough. I'm currently working my way through the main campaign, simply for the sake of replay, and will launching on the multiplayer campaign after I've finished this.

I'd say that if you haven't ever touched DS1, it's worth the $5-10 you can find it for if you look around. Since my original copy vanished, I rebought it a year or two ago from a second hand book store (the West Coast of the US has the best second hand book stores, by the way. Nothing is better than Half Priced Books).
