Please could anyone not sharing a desire to show support for respecting the dead of last year show a little maturity and self-control and make their feelings know outside of thise thread.

The rest of the thread was inflammatory and didn't belong. If you have anything like that to say, please do not say it here, as it will only lead to unnecessary fighting amongst people who would otherwise be friends.

My heart and prayers go out to those who suffered needlessly as well. Although actions of this sort may continue for all time, it is my hope and prayer that no one ever go through such a tragedy.

I, also feel bad about it. It was very tragic. Nothing much happens around here, though, and if the US doesn't watch out, we may have Suddam Husian on our hands with "dirty bombs" down our pants. Where I live, if he bombs the west coast, the wind will bring Fallout... er... the radiation over here and we will become ghouls.

I do, however, hope they re-build the World Trade Center. I would like it to be twice as high, just to say "Hey, knock down our block building, and we will build it twice as high!"

I am from a small town in Tennessee and there are those here who just haven't really sat back and thought about what it all means. I remember last year when it first happened, one of my teachers asked us to write what we feel and one of my fellow students said something along the lines of what if you just dont care. I wasn't in the class at the time but i heard about this from my best friend. Nothing makes me madder than ignorance like that. I mean, how can you just say, i dont care that thousands of innocent men, women, and children died needlessly. I did not lose anyone in the bombing, but i do have family up in New York, and some of them were in the WTC occasionaly. My heart and my prayers go out to all those who did lose family or friends in the WTC. I am an American and proud to be one, and always will be proud.

My heart and best wishes go to all who have died inocently, regardless of place and time, as a result of an act of terrorism or war.

My prayers go for those who have remained behind alone. May they find their path to salvation.

Thanks, Sheriff, for this revised thread. I didn't see it when I posted to the other (first) one. Let me add my thoughts here, then:

So far no re-visited terrorism. Things seem to be going well. From what I've seen today (Although admittedly I am living in the US - so things are close to home for everyone) people I've seen today seem to not let the commercialism of the last year detract from the gravity of it all. People have been thoughtful, reflectant, and reserved. I am glad of this. No inane flag-waving, no anger, no hawkishness....just acceptance, and a resolve for peace.

The maturity of the majority (around here, locally, and also of a few on this forum) heartens me. I once again offer my empathy to the families of the victims, and am grateful that I was not directly affected. It could have easily been any of us, anywhere.

I hope I'm not too late.

I too would just like to make it known that I too offer my condolences to any and all of those affected by the Sept 11 tragedy.

I had a close friend who was on a placement in New York, who was working in the trade centre during the early weeks of September, but luckily it was his day off, so he wasn't in NY at the time. It still brought it home, just how close it could have been for him, and I think I can just begin to understand the grief experience by those affected.

I would like to write something like Sheriff's post but I'm just not too good when it comes to expressing emotions.

I do symphatise with victims of that tragedy and I would really love it to see leaders of all countries putting aside their own interests and ambitions and finally getting to do something good for everyone for I believe that vast majority of people desire little more but to live their lives peacefully regardless of whom their neighbours are. After all we're no different from one another regardless of where we happened to be born. I would love to see a world rid of pointless violence.

My sincere condolences and again I'm sorry I'm no good expressing emotions.

I can still remember last year.
We had an american girl living with us for a while... and she had a really tough time then.
My thoughts mainly go back to the people who were left behind... 'cause they suffered so much from the losses.
