Dont you worry Jar, the whole "its good because it cost lots so lets get heaps of money syndrone" has got to end soon. Hollywood has had its day in the sun and it is slowly ending and thank stuff for that. It will be 10-20 years before people realise they are paying money to see shit movies. Look at the so called big films, they are the biggest shite you can see. The same thing. Though i guess people like the same thing because change is different and thats far to new for them.

I myself often see movies that are downloaded from the states and if i like it i will see it at the theatre. I'm just thankful that i didnt pay to see spiderman because that was the worst movie i have seen in a long time, it had no redemable features.

So the way i see it is that if i dont like the the download version i wont pay to watch it but if i do i will pay to watch it over and over.

The net changes everthing. The music industry is finding that and now that more people have fast conections the film industry will find it too. A non-globle release = alot of downloads.

I just hope it doesn't come around through the same series of short-sighted mistakes by the industry. I hate the way the lovely, lovely Napster has been replaced with several crappy copies that do it worse and make the whole thing seem dirty.

Have you not seen kazaa then fatman. its great. No law can touch it, unless they choose to sue everyone who users it. good luck i say. they celebrated there 1 billionth download a couple of months ago.

if its a company or industry they will make an arse of it. its the way of business. Business is just a form of government and like governments it takes too long to do anything. Close one and 50 will take its place, like it has and then some. (forgive my "then some". i hate that term)

Games will be the next thing. They are too big at the moment for the average usrer but so were movies and music in the good olde days.

It's Kazaa I was thinking about, mainly. The whole spyware thing makes me feel guilty by proxy, because someone has actually hacked it to remove the spyware. This makes me think either:

    1) People are using it to share so much dodgy porn and other dross that they're paranoid about spyware

    OR

    2) Kazaa includes a shedload of spyware, in a betrayal of their users.

I used to feel I knew where I stood with Napster. I know they were underground and people used to use them for porn, but it had a less corrupt feel to it.

Also, while I am in favour of bringing down prices and getting stuff to the poorer markets in ways they can afford, at the end of the day, I still think most of us shouldn't be leeching so much from people.

I don’t get it. If I don’t like Big Brother I am a suspected criminal?

leech is such a nasty word.
The spyware thing, spy as much as you want. no self respecting hacker is gonig to hack people using kazaa and if they do well then, gee thats the net for you.
you go to a forum and then people can see your online and then hack into your computer, what are you going to do about that, nothing except hope its not some nasty smuck that for some reason wants to be a bastard.

the other thing about the spyware is the fact that there is alot of questionable things going around. how many times have i got "mum/dad and underage daugther/son" etc when looking for "The Family Guy". So i guess that people like the fact that they can share "girl and kitty action" or "kiwi on sheep action"

i wonder if you can get kazaa in China. It would be a good way to spread anti commie stuff.

When I said it had been hacked, I was refering to Kazaa Lite. It seems someone produced a hacked version of Kazaa to avoid the spyware.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not against file sharing. I love the whole mp3 and dvix stuff breaking the back of music and movie exploitation. I just don't like the other shit that goes along with it.

The way I see it, if you try to remove the other shit by a strict control of information flux everything may be lost. Maybe I am just being nostalgic of earlier hacker’s utopia; but I can’t help but feel that Big Brother is watching. The logic of “those who committed no crime don’t need to fear justifies authority’s abuses.
I am as friendly of China as I am of USA; but...
    I… have to… stop… I won’t… be dragged… into… this…

Well now, I never said anything about strict controls. I just wish people would stop turning everything good into shit through self-indulgence.

    Back on topic ...

I just saw it and it is a really good action film.

The plot is well done, assuming you refrain from nitpicking things like the biology of a dragon.

The characters are marvellous. I can't remember the last action film I saw with such down to earth heroes. Likewise for the dialogue. They showed amazing restraint with the witty rejoinders.

The stunts and effects were perfect. I love it when stunts are exciting but don't have the "Yeah, right!" factor. The dragons were real. They must have been.

Alright, you sold me, Fatman. Once it hits DVD, I'm gonna check it out.

I still have to see Amelie, though, so that comes first. Plus, it's about time I watched Rushmore again. I have a crush on Mrs. Cross. Then I'll catch Reign of Fire.

As long as nothing better is there.

That's okay, I have to watch Amelie, too, since Lysa wants to see it. As part of the deal, I get to watch the possibly very, very bad cartoon flick "Metropolis".

It's ok, Sheriff. It's alright to admit that you want to see this movie. Go ahead, it will set you free.

I'm in the mood for a sweet, heartwarming movie like that.

I've never heard of a cartoon Metropolis. There was a classic movie by the same name that I've always meant to see, though. Supposedly it introduced a bunch of new ideas and concepts into film making. Thanks for reminding me, I'll have to catch that before Reign of Fire, too.

The movies I like least are romantic comedies, followed closely by romance movies. Can't stand those genres.
