    Yeah, yeah, the usual questions:

    1) Have the privileged few (ie. the population of the USA) seen it so long ago as to have forgotten it already?
    2) Was it as good as it looks?
    3) Are the dragons really scary?

    1)I don't know
    2)I don't know

Not very helpful, I know. Here's what IMDBers thought. All in all, it seems like an entertaining couple of hours as long as it's not viewed critically.

Even before reading some of the reviews, I put Reign of Fire on my maybe I'll rent it if there's nothing else list.

My sister watched it. She said it was good. I'll rent it when it comes out.

Damn you all for your tepid enthusiasm!

Depsite the IMDb comments, which - by the way - include such danger signs as "XXX was a hell of a lot better" I wouldn't at all surprised if I enjoy it immensely. I never view anything critically (least of all my own taste in films).

What I want to know is why movies take so long to go from the USA to other parts of the world...as far as I know, we speak English in Australia and the USA, we both have components capable of rendering colour movies and such, and I'm pretty sure that the reel sizes are the same.

So why the fuck does it take weeks, if not months, for the majority of movies to make it over here?

Thats a terriblbe answer dennis moore but plausible.
You can get movies on DVD before they come out in the theatres which is a little silly.
So why do films get shipped or delayed when DVDs dont. Hell just download them.

*in no way am i implying that you go and illegally source copies of movies. The view i stated was just a view of the common man or the common, leaning to the left common man. i say to the left in political terms only and dont wish to imply that you must all be dumb by myself explaining the explained. Thank you and goodnight*

It's a film coming out in the UK soon (and presumably everywhere else, except the USA who have had it already)

It's plot is something like: guy finds dragon egg>>>dragon hatches>>>dragons multiply>>>dragons take over the world, somehow beating the might of the world's armed forces>>>men take back the world with a couple of left over tanks and helicopters and a heroic disposition.

They travel at the Speed of Commerce, which is limited by the value of the constant, "Greed"

That, along with the comments on IMDb, complemented by my hatred for Jurassic Park III, means that I shall probably not be watching the movie. Besides I don't even recognize a single actor's name in the credits.

Who am I kidding? It probably won't even come out in M'sia. We only take nice movies like Scorpion King and Scooby Doo :p.

But Australians are greedy. For the equation to be true, Australians would have to be ungreedy.

How much are cinema tickets in your country? They go for an average of RM 7.00 here (RM3.80 = US$1)

Boooo! Hissss! Destitute thespians all over the world are cursing you.

I would prefer a wider variety of actors to be used, instead of the same handful of alternatives within each type of role.

But Australians are greedy. For the equation to be true, Australians would have to be ungreedy.[/quote]

Well ... um ... I was thinking more of the greed of the people who actually own the film.

I live in an affluent area at the moment. Tickets in my local cinema are £6.50 (£0.66 = US$1), and the next nearest they are £8.50. If I was to go in the cinema local to where I grew up, tickets are £4.50.

:thinkof: <== has just learnt how to quote properly.
    *frowns*
    *thinks*
    *looks up the word "thespians"*.
    Ah.

Well, wider variety is okay, but the majority of movies without at least one recognizable in them are better off not made.

similarly, for the equation to be true, filmmakers would have to be ungreedy.

Jar films take so long to get to you b/c to quote the great one (Milo knows who) "It doesn't matter if you get it." Foreign earnings don't count in the studios minds.

ThreeDogs, surprising as it seems, Australians have one of the highest average moviegoing rates in the world. Why the fuck does it take movies like Spiderman 6 weeks to get here? Another point in case is Sum of All Fears. That isn't opening for another couple of days at least here, possibly at least a week. I forget when it opens, but we're like 2 or 3 months behind America. That just ain't right.

I think they might be more interested in numbers more than rates, Jar. I don't know the figures (couldn't find them) but I'd be guessing even 100% turn out for SPidey would put Australia far behind the USA in actual bums on seats.

Yeah, true, but still, it isn't nice...

I think Spidey raked in $44.5 million here, and Star Wars got $30 million, or something like that. Those are in Aussie dollars, so, to convert to US, it's about 50 to 60% of those values...
