Staring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Edward Norton, opens October 4th. I am positively giddy with anticipation. The novel was great, and I have high expectations for the film. I wasn't very impressed with Hannibal, but you have to admit Silence of the Lambs was kick ass. Hopefully, this one will be as good or better. If your not familiar with the series, this one introduces the character of "Hannibal the Cannibal", but is focused on a different killer known as "Red Dragon".

I can't wait to see Red Dragon. I have to say that I didn't picture Ed Norton when I was reading the book, but I think he can pull it off. I think a lot of him as an actor.

I agree with you about the novel, I thought it was great. It more than made up for that abomination, Hannibal. I hated that book so much that I never even bothered seeing the movie. After getting through the ending of Hannibal, I wanted to throw my book against the wall at the shittiness of it. I'm sorry but...

... Clarice would not hook-up with Lecter. No way. No. Lecter drugs her, feeds her brains from a live human, she snaps out of it after awhile and, knowing what he did to her, still decides to fall in love and be with him? Gimme a break... That ruined the whole book for me. The only good thing about it, IMO, was the background stuff about Hannibal and his sister.

    END SPOILER

Then I found out about Red Dragon, which I think might've come before Silence of the Lambs. It was so much better than Hannibal. I put right up there with Silence of the Lambs. Hopefully, we'll be able to say the same about the movie.

Actually, Milo, in the movie she doesn't fall in love with him. She's handcuffed to him or something, and he chops his hand off to escape. Then he feeds some of the brains to a kid on a plane.

I wonder how easy it is to escape with a freshly chopped off hand.

Easier than with a arm that was chopped of a hour ago.

I'm looking forward to this one, too. This was one of those ones I saw a trailer for then promptly forgot as soon as I left the cinema. Ed Norton is one of Lysa's favourites (mine too, now).

I’m not sure. If you survived that hour you must have blood flow stopped otherwise you’d be already dead. Of course no one could ever catch Black Knight from Monthy Python’s Holy Grall – “Tis just a scratch. Get back here you coward!

Um.....correct me if I'm wrong...but I don't think Hannibal chopped off his hand, did he? I thought he just chopped the chain between the cuffs in two.

That would be too easy - he's a psycho genius, remember? Plus he had only one hand while on plane - perhaps customs stopped the other one.

Are you sure? When he was on the plane and he was eating, he..........

Aw fuckit......He DID have a bandage on his hand didn't he... But what about right after he swung....I thought you saw just a chain dangling from the cuff on Clarice's wrist....Wouldn't the whole handcuff be there?¹

¹The above is just a desperate attempt to cover the fact that I am so stupid that I never never never noticed that he cut 'is furking 'and off.

Dearest Sheriff, if you like Ed Norton, I highly recommend American History X It's one of his best.

Yeah, he was good in that. He was also good in that other movie who's name I can't remember. The one where Richard "Gerbil" Gere was a lawyer and Ed Norton was accused of murdering some bishop. Ed Norton was good in pretty much every movie I've seen him in¹.

¹I have not seen "Death To Smoochy"

Primal Fear is the name of that one Milo, I just heard from a co-worker that Val Kilmers new movie is really good, it's called The Saulton Sea (check the spelling)

Note: checked spelling, Salton and I watched it last night. Take it or leave it, wasn't that great.

If I am correct Ed Norton plays the FBI agent in Red Dragon. I can't remember the other guy that is in it right now.

*quickly opens another window and searches*

    Ralph Fiennes!

Vlad's right, I just checked IMDB. So it's Ralph "call me Rafe" Fiennes playing Francis Dolarhyde. That matches up better.

I wonder how this one will compare to the 1986 version based on the same book.

Nah, it's called Manhunter. It was made by the same guy that did the TV shows Miami Vice and Crime Story, Michael Mann. He did a few movies, too, but I can't remember their names right now.

Here's the IMDB link for the movie.

I saw Man Hunter several years ago, it was mediocre at best. I think William Petersen ruined it for me, I can't stand that guy. The "Tooth Fairy" was convincing enough, because he looked like a real freak anyway. Fiennes is to much of a pretty boy to pull it off, but with hollywood make-up and computers who knows.
