Yes, welcome to RRL! "Rate Real Life©"
Tell about your experience with this time-consuming pasttime... What should be fixed in the next patch?, and what did the developers do wrong in your opinion?

You can give scores from 1 to 10. Ten being the best, and one being the worst.

    What to rate:

    Graphics:

    Sound:

    Gameplay:

    Fun factor:

    Overall:

    I'll start with my impression

Name: Real Life©: Type: Simulation. Costs: 1 life. Where to get it: At birth

Graphics: Well, the graphics in Real Life© COULD be better. It's slowly getting outdated by todays standards, and would need a serious facelift to appeal to the young puplic. The only thing that's changed over the last 6000 years is the clothing and the addition of new language options. As for the NPC's, they look almost 2D at times, and they rarely have enough animations to make them interresting for long. Also, there is a LOT of clipping errors and bugs in the graphics, but they might get fixed in the next patch.
    Final Score: 6

Sound: The game seriously lacks at this point... There's NO backgound music whatsoever, and the sound effects are medicore at best. Altough there are many people who add their own music, you never really get the feel of actually being a part of Real Life©. Though Real Life© deserves credit for using real voices instead of text. Even if players only get one default voice to choose from. A theme-song might be in order sometime soon.
    Final Score: 5

Gameplay: Gets boring after 40 years, though a lot of hard-core gamers seem to enjoy Real Life© as much as they did from day one. Another cool feature is that Real Life© rarely/never crashes at ALL!.
The downside is that many have complained that Real Life© aren't really that fast, and desperatly needs the option for turning the speed up. Also, lacking is the option of subtitles for the hearing-impared, a thing the developers COMPLETLY forgot!.
    Final Score: 8

Fun Factor: Real Life© is aimed primarily at new players, and the fun decreases noticably with age. Cheating is not a big problem in Real Life©, though some people have been spotted using feat-enhancing pills to get that extra edge. Even if Real Life© has a lot of flaws, it's still a great simulation to spend your time on if you haven't got anything better to do. If nothing else, you'll never forget the time you spent on Real Life©, mainly because of the AI, which is unforgivingly hard at times, and you rarely get more than one chance if you screw up.
    Final Score: 7

Overall: Great for a short while, but soon you'll start longing for more that Real Life© can ever give you. You have to try Real Life© at least ONCE... Even if it's just to check what all the hype is about. Usually, players who are discontent with their Characters decide to quit after a short while. This usually ruins everything for other players, but this happen rarely, so building in-game relationships are greatly encouraged for a better experience.
Spending a whole life strictly on Real Life© is a bit much, and the cost haven't lowered since it was created. But with all the different options Real Life© gives you, you won't mind the high price...
    Overall Score: 8

I've had like three or four dreams in the past month that some of my teeth have come out(Ala Stir of Echos which I havn't seen in over a year). It's bugging me out when I go to brush after I wake up. It needs to be fixed in the next patch.

I had a similar experience, although mine was influenced by spending too much time playing RPGs. Here's the scene:

I was walking out to my hog barn one evening after work, and what I saw made me freeze in my tracks. A hog had managed to root deep enough under a gate so that her body was half way out of the pen, half way in. Fortunately, the hole wasn't so deep that she could wiggle free, so she was basically wedged there.

But, I had a problem. Free the hog, and waste that good piece of pork pussy, or.... Heh. Just kidding. No chance there, miss piggy. SKWEEL LAHK A PEEUUGG, BOY!!!

Anyway, while I was standing there, wondering how the hell I was gonna get the gate off the hog, without it bolting free... (Ever heard of a "pig greasing"? It's where you grease up a 20 pound pig, release it in a field, and everybody tries to catch it. Wheee-heee, fun for the whole in-bred family. Maybe sis will fall down and I'll see if'n she's warin' pantees. Anyway, imagine trying to catch a 200 lb pig. Yeah. One that's pissed for getting pork-fucked.)

So, to get back all the way to the reason why I even posted this shit, the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the hog, stuck like that was...

Ok, save game now, then push the gate this way, awwww, shit, there goes the pig, ok, that's fine, just reload..... Swear. For just one split second, I mentally hunted a "save game" button.

So. Can you really blame me for "gettin' that peeuugg?" I did pet her, and tell her how pretty she was. I wasn't a complete ass about it.

Yeah, for real. Amen, brother Demosthenes. I mean, who could judge me for making hay while the sun shines? Or, in this case, porkin sausage while the hog's stuck. No one, that's who.

Don't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. That way, you're a mile away, and you have their shoes.

I've read somewhere or other that dreams about missing teeth are directly linked to masturbation. Having one of those dreams supposedly indicates that you were engaged in the act sometime on the previous day. It has to do with sexual frustration and a fear of old age, although these dreams happen more frequently to those under the age of 35. No, I am not a psychology major; no, I do not put much stead in statistics or the study of the mind; I just read it in some book a while back. I can't deny that I've not had these sorts of dreams before. . . come to think of it, I think I had this one dream where I was eating a cob of corn and a couple of my eye teeth popped out. . . but never MIND that!

    Real Life User Review

Graphics: High resolution brings out flaws in character models and environments are repetetive and boring. Excellent lighting effects, but little in the way of explosions and spell effects.

Sound: Sound effects are very life like but in-game music leaves a lot to be desired. Use your own soundtrack for the best experience, I recomend Fantomas, "The Director's Cut."

Gameplay: Interface not very user friendly, and control is minimal. The steep difficulty curve makes for strong character through constant replay. No save feature, and you really have to cheat to win. Most strategy guides are based on incomplete or misleading theories. Hoards of NPCs with virtualy no distinguishing features, very dissapointing.

Fun Factor: Work and play needs to be more evenly balanced, mostly not fun at all. Too many random events, with not enough direction. Fun factor increases exponentially when the power-ups, such as marijuana or alchohol, are obtained. But they impair you ability to collect experience points, so delegate wisely.

Overall: Though the game world is working against you, fun can be had if you play your cards right. Excellent chances to pursue knowledge and build character interaction. The ending is dissapointing and no sequel is planned.

Ah, come on guys! Real Life ain't that bad. For one thing, we have all these people blowing themselves up 'cause they can't agree on who was the developer...

But I agree with Retard (to some extent... ). Sometimes a "Load Game" button would be painfully needed.

Not that bad? Well, you reside in a different stage than me, but I'm not impressed one bit. I can't think of many games that suck worse than Real Life over here. I hope to have enough money to venture out in to the expansion pack's exotic locales, but I'm stuck in this level for now. No matter how good a game is, cynical nitpickers like me will always plot it's downfall. But you have to breed competition to advance your product.

    Or just plain blowing themselves.

Yeah. I would like to load the save before I screwed that mutsy bitch and caused her to end up being put down. Oh, the memories.

Real Life (tm) is for suckers, I say. I STILL find it hard to believe that at some point in the past I "bought into" it. What was I THINKING?! I guess I'm just a sucker at heart.

Oh, and the plan for a sequel is a matter of faith -- much like Arcanum 2 or Fallout 3 (although Fallout 3 is purportedly in the works).
