Jinxed, I know! It's like someone said, "How can I make the human mating rituals as hard as possible? I know, I put this bit in right at the start where the guy can be shot down horribly.

Milo, it's hilarious, because in a few minutes you came up with more (relevant) questions about my marriage than I have since I asked. Some answers:

• My fiance is Lysa. She's half-filipino, half-american (new orleans). She used to run a fansite for a band, but it died when her "free space" was discovered by the ISP she used to work for. • I don't know about the name thing. Is it okay if you both keep your own, or would that be cruel to our kids?
• Our parents' (who are all divorced, btw) approval ranges from my Dad's calm "I'm sure it's for the best if it's what you want," through my Mum's suppressed excitement to Lysa's Mum's crazy filipino attempt to make all the wedding plans "on our behalf." :smile: They're all glad.
• It'll be a civil wedding, with only the required witnesses attending. Since we don't have to cash to fly our families around the world, we decided to avoid the risk of insult and not invite anyone :wink:
• Rowan Atkinson isn't doing the ceremony. We feel it would be a bit inappropriate, to get our gynacologist to marry us, and would raise too many questions. :grin: (If you don't get that one, watch this film: http://us.imdb.com/Details?0206926)

Jarinor, I don't drink. It's strange, because I literally used to spend 12 hours a day in the bar at uni, supposedly playing pool, but mainly pissed as a newt.

Feldon, my job has the potential to be glamourous. I have worked on sites that made it on TV over here, and we do a Star Trek site that as about 70000 members. Since I'm the guy who spec's the sites, I have a pretty visible job. Unfortunately, none of that has EVER translated into glory. Eg. the girl at the design agency for the Star Trek site thinks I'm a trekkie (I say not) and has written off the rest of my potential for fame because she also thinks I'm a techie (our developers say not :wink: ) and a geek (okay, she's got me there).

 

Okay, new poll...how many people have divorced parents? I do...

'Twas a big fucking mistake revealing my age...I'm an imbecile sometimes...

By the way Reg Pither, it wasn't personal when I said that. If you had a reason to call me an imbecile (I've taken away at least one current one by insulting myself) then I wouldn't take it personally :smile:.

People say "Be yourself". How the hell are you supposed to know who you are? If I'm the person I think I am 'supposed' to be, then I can tell you right now, I hate that person.

 

Why would you hate yourself?
I had so many disasters in my life it's amazing I'm still alive. I had only 2 serious girlfriends :sad:. Got turned down once by a girl I liked soo much that it would be enough to hate myself. But life rolls on, I have another girl on the scene I like now and I'm starting to make moves. these are the parts in life in which you would just want to crawl into a hole and stay there. But since the apparent mood swings such feelings are very short.
Life is alot of success too, quitting smoking, having good grades ect. It's just that you need to distinguish what is the "good stuff" from the bad shit. After you do that you will notice that you don't hate yourself that much.

 

Worry not. I'm worse off than you. I've never had a girlfriend, much less a serious one. I truly am a loser.

While it's true, my mood swings don't last long, they are quite frequent. It's unusual that I don't get depressed over something at least once a day. Today hasn't been bad, only 2 or 3 causes for depression.

As for success, I haven't had much. In anything. According to conventional wisdom and folklore, everyone has a special talent. Just seems that I haven't discovered mine yet. Although, if I have, I'm pretty disappointed, because I'm not especially talented at anything :smile:.

 

I'm 20. I live in Holland. I am a student and am quite broke at the moment, but improvement is in sight. Also, my love life sucks. Really sucks.

 

think of my talent. I never played any first person shooter. My brother comes over wit his friend for some networking. They are veterans and guess what, I blasted them away
even when they ganged up on me, I always got them. Frustration grew.
Is that cool? well I don't know. I like different languages. I now know Polish English some French and alittle Japanese.
I am good at games generally and play alot.
usually if it takes me more than one day to finish a game its long.
now are these talents to be proud of? naah.
Another thing, the girl, Well my brother had has his first girlfriend when he was 22. And he met her on irc.
I had my fist bed works with a girl at when I was 17. That is not because I'm particullary stunning and handsome, it is because I'm looking all the time and always trying. not matter how many times I failed I laways tried again. And it sometimes paid up.
My brother was always shy. and that's a big period. Just keep looking you are bound to find someoone depending on how much you're trying. really. I'm a living example of that.

 

I see. Well, as it's been said in the past, we're all different people. I always manage to screw up when I talk with someone I don't know. I'm very socially inept :smile:.

Calis I was wondering, how expensive is pot or weed over in Holland? Do you sometimes smoke? It's said its naturall in Holland so I was wondering how is it in reality.

 

Pot and weed are generally the same thing :smile:.

 

I smoke pot, yes. About 4 times a week. It costs about $5 per gram. And while it's not exactly legalized, the government has a policy of tolerating soft drug use and sale, if both are within certain restrictions (you can't buy pot if you're under 18, you can't sell pot without a license, you can't sell more than 5 grams to one customer in a day).

 

I must say, I've never tried pot before. While I'm pretty sure I could obtain it (I have some pretty dodgy friends), I so far refrained from doing so for several reasons:

1. If caught smoking pot at school, you were immediately expelled. No questions. Seeing as I boarded for 4 of my 5 years at high school, this was a major factor :smile:.

2. It's pretty expensive over here. About AUS$25 will get you not that much. Enough for a couple of joints. That was an old price as well.

3. If my parents had caught me, I would have been ritually killed :smile:.

 

jarinor: pot is hash that is different from weed.
anyway since I started something about myself lemme say something else. Weed almost destroyed my life. I'm finishing highschool right now. A year behind. Why? I flunked, 2 years in a row. another why? I just kept going from party to smoke sessions and never to school. Can you beat that Jarinor?
Right now I have the best grades at school which is a aftrenoon school and its only a 3 year highschool. That is why I have alot of time to spend here. I did not drink anything or smoked anything for over 2 years. BUT I did pick myself up and I'm still living. Yes life's a bitch but I keep trying...

 

Yeah, I can beat that. I've been to 3 'proper' parties in my life - by 'proper' I mean the type with alcohol, and not the ones with cheerios with tomato sauce.

Where I come from, pot=weed=hash (short for hashish isn't it?).

I may have finished school on time, but I had no social life.

 

going to parties is not something to be proud off. Believe me, after all is said and done, You start thinking that it really was a waste of time. That is what happened to me.
I split up with my girlfriend because she kept reminding me of the days of the past.
so 2 years ago I was born anew. I'm a completly different person now.
I after I washed all the shit away I can tell you that I feel 10x better now that I did going to parties all the time. Even staying on this forum and chatting is a much better experience. And thats another reason I want to be a mod here. Because I want to get involved further.

 

Ah, but at least parties are fun. Fun is what I need right now, however, I have hardly any opportunities for any.

Maybe I should start going to the uni bar when I go back next year :smile:.

I am 21. Just got married, Sept. 1, 2001.
Just bought Arcanum a month ago, and loving. Fatman, congrats. Marriage is a blast. I dated my wife for almost 2 years before we married. Never smoked, never boozed, never doped up....Work at a commercial lawn equipment wholesale distributership, and I also farm part time. That's me in a nutshell. :smile:

Hash is short for hashish is it not? Isn't it similar to weed though, even if it is, as you say, more potent and expensive?
