I know maxing your perception allws for "sense invisible". Inm assuming that that means you sense thing otherwise invisible tot he normal person...right...is it me or is thsi skill useless? When will i ever encounter something invisible? i have currently beat the game and have not seen any invisible enemies or anything- or did i just not notice them cause i couls see them because my perception was maxed?

    Agreed with FK.

I haven't encountered 1 invisible enemy in the whole game. And if I did, it was so insignificant that I don't even remember it happened.

A maxed perception won't let you automatically see traps, since that's a seperate (and pretty useless, IMO) skill. You'd think they would just throw in this little perk since you spent all the CPs to get a bonus which, it turns out, is useless.

yep, PE is useless, at least for this game. Maybe in a sequel(hopefully).

THAT SUCKS! I feel so ripped off! i could have spent that in strength or something. UGH! I mena i know i needed to have it to raise my firearm skill. BUt. I mean.. in the booklet see invisible seemed so cool. It should give oyu some spot trap bonuses...some shooting bonuses... somelighting bonuses..some invisible seceret stuff only you can see..something..ANYTHING!

    I know, it does suck.

In fact, the only benefit I can think of off-hand is that it could possibly be useful in a module. If someone were to create a module that featured a ton of invisible stuff, then, yeah... it'd come in handy.

Unfortunately, (a) there aren't that many mods out there -yet, and (b)it still isn't useful with the game itself.

Actually, 20 PE will show you the Wheel Clan entrance without the spectacles, and also, there are invisible monsters in Tulla. You encounter them on at least one mastery quest (air I believe).

and another thing i havent encounter in game is an enemy who always cast offensive spell all they do is summon or cast stat boosting spell, maybe they(developers) done this intentionally, cause i know i dont want to be killed by desintigrate(sp?), does that spell ever critically fail?

I didnt know about the wheel clan entrance thing..my perception was 19 at the time. I did however notice an air elemental in Tulla. i was tempted to kill it  I was a hard core techie and i put all those mages in their place dammit! How do i knowe that something that was otherwise invisible is now visible??...just wondering. And even with those things taken into account..it is simply not enough. i mean... lets face it..its maxing out a stat..it the ability to SEE INVISIBLE!!! there should be ghosts running around you can see and talk to or something cool like that. Or like.. an invisible city's ruins. That would be spiff.

Doesn't PE 20 allow you to see traps even though you don't have detect trap skill? That would be a logic occurance IMO.

DOn't you have to raise your perception IN ORDER to GET higher ranks in spot trap? Isn't increasing spot trap rank dependent on your perception?

Well, lookie there, I just asked the same question twice.

Yes.. but you can max out all your skills with a rank of 18 in a stat. For example.. for intelligence 18 gets you all the int based skills you want..but its those 2 extra points that increase you success rate by 10 percent. SO as for spotting traps... yes its per based but you can max at 18..and im saying that a 20 in perception shoudl get you more. i mean str does doubel damage for gods sake.... INt gives freakin skill bonuses of doom..and let snot even go there on char. MAgusus surlyness is no more!!

Well, several skills depend on perception, so it's not a complete waste - firearms, spot traps and prowling. I think that increasing perception also helps you with your throwing and archery abilities - you know, range modifiers and all that.

Actually, for techs it's pretty good - they have the compound bow, and a couple of variations on it, the Pyrotechnic and Envenomed. It just sucks for mages .

Yeah, but the monsters are usually right on top of you before you can take advantage of distance bonuses, et cetera. The game is heavily weighted toward melee. But that topic's already been beaten to death.

Actually.. ive had impeccable luck with ranged weapons..namely firearms. I used the sniper rifle for a long while before the patch..and am currently using the warbringer. I was able to smoke hordes of enemies before they even touched me. I spent a fair amoutn of time running around nude...to reduce my wieght and increase speed. Laugh now..but NOTHING touched me...because the range was soooo far on that rifle and it hit sooo hard.. (this is all in realtime of course). You ge the point

As for the perception thing. I know its a valuable skill. I was simply contending that a 20..is really a waste of points...that an 18 is realyl sufficient to fufill all the requirements to be a master in all perception based skills. The bonuses accociated with having a 20 in just about every other skill amazingly outweigh the "see invisible" that i have since learned is essentially useless in the retail version of the single player game. I was just saying more htings should take advantage of/ be affected by invisibility. I believe i suggested ..say..an "invisible location'/...such as an invisible.ancient city you can plunder. Just an idea.OR perhaps the occasional invisible thief running around town you have to catch..or some invisibel ghosts with quest info or something. now what do you guys thing of THAT idea?
