Basically it all boils down to my character not having enough creation points to do what i want with him. One way i thought about saving points was to only get 10 Intelligence, and use int potions when i need the points. Do the potions work for leveling up as well, say i level up for instance, have 10 int, but need say 11 for the next in line for a certain tech tree, i drink the potion, and put the point into the tech disipline...does this work, as in, could i get to doctorate level in tech by drinkin potions. If so, i dont have to waste 12 points on intelligence, but only 2 instead, so i have a base of 10. Just wondered if this would work...would be great if it did! :D

I believe it works. However there are advantages to having high IN.

True...perhaps this type of character isnt what im looking for. I had an idea, just to use the sharpshooters pistol until i got bronwycks gun, and that until drochs...but from what im reading i doubt id survive on using only those three guns. Who knows, ive got time to think.

 You could survive just with a Fine Revolver. The Warbringer will be more than adequate. Personally I've never liked Bronwyk's Gun except for the funky animation, but that's just me.

As for your original post.... You didn't really give us much to go on, so I'll just content myself by sitting in quiet stunned amazement that anyone could think there are too few character points in this game.

the real problem is where to put ALL those 64 points!

    Parmanian

With the intelligence potions (that don't last very long) if you raise a skill then try to use that skill later not drinking another potion, it won't work!

Haha, Canis, True, there are a lot, and i know more than plenty with what most people want to do, i guess i just try to do too many things. If you were going to build a gun slinger, how would you use those 64 points? With those handguns, I would imagin i could keep pretty low strength, depending on the reqs of drochs warbringer. So with a sharpshooter/bronwycks/drochs gunslinger (pistols mainly, i wanna stay away from big guns, just for roleplay) How would you do it?

spend 2 points in electrics (to get charged rings), Raise PE to 20 (of course) fill up gunsmithy (of course) master firearms (of course) Raise INT for skills (of course) and buying tech manuals you'll need. Fill up dex for speed bonus (of course). You still have over 20 points to spend and be around LVL 30-35 at this time.

Now you stockpile the points until you know what direction the game is taking you! Most characters are complete at this level and only fine tuning remains.

Let us know how it comes out! After a while you'll see what you need by your playing style.

Why would i put 7 into gunsmithy..i stated which three guns i was going to be using, sharpshooters pistol, bronwycks, and drochs warbringer, thats it. I wont need to waste 7 points for that. Whats the str req on the warbringer and bronwycks gun though? I figured put 6 into dex, let the other 6 come from charged rings and magnus gauntlets, 9 into pe, 3 from the helm, saving points already, throwing, firearms, explosives up to the last grenade, electric up to the jacket, herbs up to the first cuz i hate Jayna lol... So mainly, i could make this work if i knew str reqs for those 3 guns i listed.

The guns you desire all have very minimal strengh requirements. I believe I've done it with 8 or 9.

Ohh... You're a dwarf? So that's... what, 19 max dex?

What helm? Goggled Helm? You're going to blow five points in smithy for a +3 PE boost? I prefer the Trapmaker's Spectacles, +2 dex and pe, dead neutral.

You can get the healing jacket from Sebastian if you don't want to spend any more points in electrical.

I've never found any benefit to raising PE past 18. Some will tell you it affects your to hit, but I believe the effect is made moot once you become a firearms master.

My gunslingers always like 20 intelligence, but if that's not your thing there's no point pressing the matter.

Oh i didnt mean it wasnt my thing, Im just looking at every alternative Canis. Not a dwarf btw, but a human. And true about the trapmakers spectacles..i forgot i wasnt even going with smithy/mech colleges anymore, Im still not 100% sure about what Im going to do, but im working on it, Ill have to see what i can do about getting the trapmakers specs. My all time favorite character ive had yet was a thief..im still thinking about remaking a thief, pure this time, no followers. *shrug*

Well in that case, you might wish to know that Magnus's gauntlets only provide the stat boosts for dwarves. :D

A throwing penalty for dwarves? No, I don't think so.... Though when you're a thrower it helps to have 20 dex, and I think dwarves are capped at 19.

They make lousy mages, that's for sure.

if you get sebastion being a gunslinger at lvl 30, he makes your grenades and electrics saving you points and jayna saves me 7 cps also. Since I get to 20 cha and 10 followers, I just have jayna, magnus and sebastion waiting around and making stuff for the rest of the party when I need them

Ahh, well if there is no negative to throwing i could have a pretty buff melee/throwing tech dwarf. Would be fun Id imagin, now i just have to decide if the game would be more fun with my tech dwarf or my gunslinging human, either way, they would both use grenades..because i like grenades. My gunslinger will get repair, firearms, healing jacket, fire obstruction, heal, enough dex to max him with items, some str, PE to 18 with items, and throw, that about covers it. Im gonna leave Virgil, i want to not go all gunslinger, but have a diverse party. Gotta figure out who though! I just hope the game isnt too hard only using those three guns..should be fine :D

have fun going this game by yourself! Unless you're gonna do a lot of reloading! Don't go running into those 4 putrid rabbits or 2 golden bears!
Virgil may not be that much fun, but give him the bandages and he'll do the healing your gonna need.

That regen armor that sebastion has doesn't seem to be that good is it? Didn't seem to do him any good when he thought he ws wyatt earp!

Let us know how the game goes ALONE. A lot of thinking would have to go into the fights, so get your dex to 20 right away so you always get the first hit in.

Only with the thief would i be _all_ alone. With the Gunslinger i could have 2 followers, and the free followers..so there would be plenty of us. Not everyone plays with everyone in the game following them around, I have done it before and know its possible 8)

Gunslinging thief. Prowl makes you an invisible sniper.

The MSR for the guns you mentioned is 5 or 6.

Look for the schematic for the Long Range Pistol if you do not like the Looking Glass Rifle. An awesome tool for the sniper.

Except for use as a barier, the Fire Obstruction is useless to a gunslinger.

There are prowling followers for a thiefs' party.

Sounds like another idea, btw, just how many batteries does the healing jacket take to use, how often does it suck them up rather, and are they easy to come by, i dont wanna waste points in chemistry for charges.

Trades bateries for healing, I don't know the ratio. Look for the Lemon & Potato Charges schematic. Charges are sold at the inventor's shop, the factory foreman, & sometimes, I think, at the Tarrant general store.
