It may be that consuming it doesn't have the actual effect, and only in certain ways such as it being released into your body will make it do so.

    BTW, it wasn't daddy.

Hahahaha, I like it how you guys have your discussions here at the forum, even though you could just had yelled at each other... funny that.

As for love, and the causes for it... I don't really care. As Sigurd said, it exists for those in love, and that's the only thing that matters for me.

Phenylethylamine... Sea Dog likes to fool around with chemicals right?

Do you all really think there's some kind of chemical for love? I already thought it to just me some kind of emotion....

Does that mean there's also a chemical for hate, anger, sorrow and stuff like that?

yes, there are, actually. whether you choose to believe there's more to it than a chemical reaction is up to you. but for those "don't believe it till i see it" types, science has only been able to find the chemical reaction behind emotions.

It's just logical - emotions could ONLY be chemical reactions, because that's how our whole body, and even the entire universe, works.

My sisters e-mail each other and they live in the same house. Go figure.

Duh. That's why certain drugs/chemicals can make you feel depressed, angry, hyperactive, etc. In fact your whole consciousness is merely a jumble of chemicals and electric reactions. The body is like a machine, and the brain is the computer, while your consciousness is the 'operating system' that runs it all.

I prefer to think of it as the brain and body being the hardware and memories/emotions etc. being the software.

Why does it matter the actual mechanics of the emotion? The emotion itself is what counts, not the way it happens. Whether it's just three chemicals acting together, the feeling is real, so the mechanics are irrelevant.

No, I disagree. The mechanics count. If I can stop the emotions from happening I'm better off for it.

I'm working on what I call my Emotional Rock technique - controlling my emotions so that I only feel the ones I want to feel. I think it's already paying dividends, even though it's still pretty rough.

If you have never felt love then how can you know how to controll it, and how sad will it be to miss it, apperantly it is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

The closest love Jar has ever felt is the knowledge that he has put someone down.

Technically, everything that makes you different from anyone else (mentally, of course) is just a bunch of chemicals that you could probably find in a local chemistry lab.

Well Sea Dog, I've found so far that it's a matter of willpower. If you can simply force yourself to ignore any inconvenient feelings by refusing to acknowledge them, that's probably a step in the right direction. At least, that's how I started out. I can't really explain any more on how I've gone about it, but I do find myself less vulnerable to the guilt trips people try and hang on. Last night, for instance, I scoffed a whole pizza when someone specifically asked me to leave them some, and I didn't feel bad about it at all.

Now there are times when the brain has an unbalance of chemicals, or certain chemicals aren't released. I'd say that's the case with you, Jar. It's not your willpower or anything else; merely a mental disorder, I'm sure.

    Probably the Cold Heart Syndrome.

Your knowledge of the mechanics won't help you control your emotions, unless you use drugs. Learn to control them naturally, and it has nothing to do with chemicals.
