Man, either nobody got my joke or it wasn't as good as I thought it was. I guess they can't all be winners.

Nothing like a warm, well-seasoned apple pie to keep you warm in the dark winter nights when you're single... and I'm sure that Magikarp's mother's recipe is better, but just for the jist of things.

Philes: I noticed, it, chuckled, then went back to thinking about pie.

I could post the recipe I have when I get back home. It's in Swedish, I'm sure you'll enjoy running it through Google Translate.

For the edification of the HoL Gentry, the recipe my mum uses for Steak and Kidney pie.

    Ingredients
    600g stewing steak, diced
280g kidney, trimmed and finely sliced
    125g plain flour
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 onion, peeled and chopped
    1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
    ½tbsp tomato purée
    150ml beef stock
    225g puff pastry
    1 egg, beaten for glazing

    Method
    1. Heat the oven to 220C/425F. (Farenheit included for all you non-Celsius barbarians.)
    2. Put the steak and kidney into a bowl and toss in the flour and some salt and pepper.
    3. Put the onion, meat and parsley into a pie dish and pack down.
    4. Pour in the tomato purée, stock and enough water to come half way up the dish.
    5. Roll out the pastry to 2mm thick and cut a long strip to fit around the pie dish.
    6. Brush the lip of the dish with water and press the strip of pastry on to it.
Brush the strip with more water and put the pastry over the top to make a lid. Cut away any excess and crimp the edges. Cut a 1cm hole in the centre to allow the steam to escape and decorate the pie with any leftover pastry trimmings.
    7. Chill the pie for 10 minutes, brush with the beaten egg and then bake in the oven for 30 minutes until the pastry is golden and risen. Decrease the heat to 180C/350F and continue cooking the pie for another 90 minutes until the meat is tender. If the pastry gets too dark, cover with foil.

    This pie fucking wins.

We ought to put together a cookbook of our favorite recipes.

"T-A's CookBook or, how I learned to quit worrying and hope you choke on pineapple pie"

A little later than I wanted to get it, but as promised here's the "dirt pie" my mom makes every year.

    1 pkg. 20oz. oreo cookies
1 8oz. pkg. of cream cheese (softened)
2 pkgs. of vanilla instant pudding
3 1/2 cups of cold milk
1/3 of a cup powdered sugar
1/4 to 1/3 tablespoons of butter (softened) this may be omitted
12 oz. tub of cool whip (defrosted)

crush oreo cookies. place enough to cover bottom of trifle bowl.
in a separate bowl use electric mixer to mix pudding and milk until thickened
add cream cheese and powdered sugar and butter (if using) mix well (there may be slight lumps of cream cheese.
add crushed oreos to this mix leaving enough out to cover top of trifle bowl
fold in cool whip until well mixed. do not stir just fold.
    pour mixture into trifle bowl
sprinkle remaining crushed oreos on top
refrigerate immediately until ready to serve.
