If like me you are waiting on your physical disc of PoE to arrive to do a true old school install before playing then you may have a bit of time to fill. If that is the case then head on over to this link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=390131384 And if you like what you see then please vote yes if you have a steam account and please spread the link as much as possible. One of the guys on the team making this is a good friend of mine and I think he has a really cool concept going here. If this thing gets off the ground I will see about setting up some kind of HoL multiplayer match where you all get to stab me.
What can I say, I love DRM free. And I know Steam aren't nazis about it, but beyond that I don't appreciate client software. And yeah, a dislike button would have been more suited to a forum like this than a like button ever was.
Having already witnessed cases since the upgrade of regular members simply liking a post here and not making a reply it would seem that the like button is actually a pretty good way to kill a forum which is supposed to elicit conversation.
So it basically appropriate to give the like button (for killing a forum) a dislike? If you know what I mean.
The Like button is getting a dislike. Yes? Oh well. Yesterday was a busy and tiresome day. Too much coffee and a lot of work.
I'm liking that comment, just for good measure. Regarding the game: It is certainly not a game that I'm likely to buy, or play, for that matter, but I do like the concept.
Good to see saying that I thought likes were killing the forum made me the most liked member on the site. And vote for Kieru dammit.
I can see both sides of the issue. On one hand, having a like button can make shitposts go away because people with nothing of value to contribute to a discussion can simply "like" it and feel like they participated. The downside is that on a smaller forum like this that has had a "under construction" main page post with no links to forums and an already low post count, the like button could lead to a lack of posting of anything at all.
I was thinking somewhat along the same lines, Philes. The like button should cut down on the 'me too' and the 'lol' reply posts. Then again, the House isn't as active as it was when I was last here, so maybe the matter is academic.
It wasn't that many me too comments before though. Mostly because you in the early days got bashed for them.
I don't know, I was definitely feeling a strong "This" vibe here several months back. I would prefer a like to a "This" to when it comes to agreement, I find the insincere laziness of a like better than the insincere laziness required to write "This" as if anything likes are more insincere so they're better at the job. Besides when people say "This" or "Me too" or like something they were never going to contribute meaningfully to the thread anyway, so I don't think anything is lost from a thread by having a like option. It also has the added value of being able to genuinely like something someone said and meaningfully respond to it as well. And now, I'll wait for the inevitable response...
