I'm using ChatZilla in Firefox, since I've got the browser open anyways.

If you're not a Firefox user then, other then converting to Firefox, you might want to try mIRC (the most well-known IRC client) or pick one out of these - http://swik.net/irc-client .

Whichever you choose, as soon as you're dropped somewhere you can type, write
    Code:
    /server irc.coldfront.net
to connect to the IRC server

    and then
    Code:
    /join #hol
    to join the channel.

If it weren't for this thread, I would never have realized my PC is loaded with trojans and tracking bullshit out the ass. As it stands, I've been trying since Monday to log on to coldfront but was immediately banned and my IP listed on some kind of website that blacklists people with "malicious" code on their rigs. I scanned and removed everything considered "threatening" and had my IP removed from the site but was told it could be several hours to a full day before the IRC server would accept me again. Fuck this.

Clearly the only path to salvation is for your husband to put a damned condom on before any more lives are thrown away!

Ha. Ha. Perhap this'll teach you to invest some money into buying Anti-virus/firewall/etc. software?

Just don't get McAfee, I got it standard with my PC when I bought it and it let everything in. Kaspersky Internet Security however is made of pure gold.

Kaspersky clogs the computer even worse then a full set of Norton Utilities set do do their stuff.

Also, irc.coldfront.net appears to be down. Now I've no choice other then doing absolutely nothing at work.

All I know is the system is better than it was with McAfee, thankfully Norton was so long ago I've forgotten it.

Besides I can get Kaspersky for free from work which is a big plus.

I get McAfee for free from Comcast, my IP, which I'll be using from now on. My system came with Norton which I blissfully used over the past couple years. Not anymore though.

Yeah, I use AVG. Just got a notice that I have to upgrade to 8.5 before the 30th of April, which would cost me "only" 59 dollars. Fuck that, I've just have to find a new software instead.

I use Trend Micro. Yes, I'm one of those weird people who actually purchases anti-virus software. However, I've had good luck with it, and it's pretty iron-clad. The only downside is that it's a bit resource heavy, so it can make older machines lag. However, all three of the machines I've it installed on work beautifully with it doing the 24/7 scan.

I had Trend Micro on my old machine and it hated my network settings, no matter what I tried it always conflicted with something. Of course my old machine was an abomination of mismatched parts and cobbled together software run on what started out as standard Win98. So it may not have been Trend Micros fault since it was designed to go on a computer that actually worked without voodoo and a spanner.

You can still get AVG 8.5 free, but it's a bit more hidden than their paid update. For obvious reasons.

I used AVG for a grand total of two days. I hadn't connected to the internet, my system was completely clean, the only things carried over from my previous install were some word files and a background, all of which had been scanned repeatedly and declared clean... so it decided to eat Windows alive. Fuck that for a laugh.
