I would LOVE to learn it! If anyone knows of any good tutorials, please send them to me.

Also, I have Apache to run php, but I don't think I can get it to work. Any suggestions for an alternative/how to set it up?

You know, I could be wrong on this, but unless you're running Linux or Unix, you might have a hard time getting Apache to work, since most computers that run it are web servers, and most of those use Linux or Unix. There might be a Windows version, but unless it specifically says so, you're going to have to find another copy.

Don't worry. I went to http://www.php.net and downloaded what I need. Thanks for trying to help, though.

I'd also be very interested in learning PHP. My new job has taken an interesting twist and I might be able to get myself highly involved in writing the college web service.

However, in order to do so, I need to know PHP....

In that case Ferret, do a Google search for PHP tutorials. You could try buying a book, but whatever you do, the author will be impressing a certain coding style on you. Some of them are good, others are bad. It's also bloody hard to tell the difference at times. I can offer no further advice in this area, as I don't know php, but maybe you could see if you can find the source code for this board as it is, funnily enough, written in PHP.

Learning PHP is no sweat, Jar. I would have done it nearly a year ago - I have had a PHP book since then. However, I found trying to get it to work offline a very complicated and annoying job. I gave it up until now. I just feel I should learn it if I want to make proper websites.

Ferret, I downloaded EasyPhp and am about to try it. It is in french, but I hear that it is very good for getting php to work offline. I would give it a try and will when I can get it to my computer. :D

There are a number of PHP installation packages for Windows available. They usually come with Apache and MySQL and contain a nice installer for getting 'em all to work with no trouble. I'm too lazy to look for them right now but I believe one of them was called "php triad" or something like that. Do a search on http://www.sourceforge.net and you should be able to find it. As for tutorials, check out http://www.yapf.net/ as it has a bunch of very good articles on PHP coding.

Well Ferret (and Xento), as you may know, I'm a fairly decent PHP coder myself... if you have any PHP questions post 'em here and I'll try to answer them on a "when I get around to checking the board" basis. Though most stuff can be found in the manual on http://www.php.net as well.

First of all, the sourceforge search didn't work. Also, I KNOW that Apachee wont work on my computer. It never has no matter what package it has come with. Are there any other ones that set up easy and work well with, basically, any Windows OS?

Right. I did a search for something like that on Sourceforge and came up with http://phphome.sourceforge.net/ .
Try that. Alternatively, try http://sourceforge.net/projects/phptriad/ which is a similar package.
