Some time ago I began to read various philosophers and found info about F. Nietzsche, his statements: "God is dead" and the doctrine of "eternal recurrence" are very interesting. What do you think about him and do you have any favourite philosophers?

    "God is dead" -Nietzche
    "Nietzsche is dead" -God.

A dangerous thing to say that. God is dead so we can do whatever we want. Yet very important for the same reason. God is dead so we can throw of the old chains that religion layed unto uss and grow to the full potential of the human rase. God is dead we can do whatever we want to bathe in sin and death without any fear for punisment, greed may run rampant and care for humans around us is no more. You can see his statement from many sides, personaly i think he said it because 1: he was bored and decided to have some fun pissing of christians 2: He could not get laid and decided to say something controversial to become a celebrity and get laid that way.

I think i have also heard he was an antisemetic and he has an extremly difficult name to write and remember.

Nope, he said something like this: "why do you hate the jews, you have adopted thier religion"(to antisemetic christians) .

It was possible for the Nazi interpreters to assemble, quite selectively, various passages from Nietzsche's writings whose juxtaposition appeared to justify war, aggression and domination for the sake of nationalistic and racial self-glorification.

I've always found it a bit strange the way people buy into the writing of philosophers so whole-heartedly.

Philosophy is about thinking. You look at life and you think about the ways things work. You strive for insight through thought. But most people read what someone else thought and strive for insight that way. Seems a bit against the whole idea to me.

I'm not saying people should not read other philosopher's writing or should dismiss it. I do think people should use it more of something to colour their own thoughts rather than adopting it wholesale.

I've always looked at philosopher's as a starting point personally - I've never found one I fully agree with yet.
