I'm off to Paris on a hitchhiking contest. No worries though; I'm sure my army of genetically-engineered moderator sheep will take good care of this forum. Behave...

Talk about your all-time strokes of bad luck.

All the participants of the contest were supposed to meet at 8 am. I was there at 8:20, and there was no sign of my hitchhiking buddy, Ruben. A few phonecalls and a bit of waiting later, and most of the other participants were there, but still no sign of Ruben. I had to go over to his house to wake him up, first.
11:10 am and we were finally on our way. But the hitchhiking didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped, and we spent the day riding with a total of 7 interesting people and not really getting very far.
By the time we arrived at the Belgian border, it was past 7 pm. It was then and there that we asked ourselves two important questions:
    a) what are our chances of making Paris today?
    b) do we want to spend the night at some Belgian dump?

The answer to a) involved words such as "snowball" and "hell", and you can imagine our answer to b). So we got ourselves a ride back to Holland, bought a pack of beer and a bag of cheetos, and got in a train back to our home town, Enschede.

Oh well. At least this gives me time to finish my preview of Arcanum...

    So, who won the contest?
Was anyone picked up by a deranged killer and subsequently dismembered?
What brand/type of beer was it?

A couple of asswipes who were lucky enough to get there in 4 hops: first to Utrecht with 115 MPH, then Breda, again with 115, then to Antwerp, then to Paris.
    No. Amazed me as well.
    Grolsch, of course!

I'm editing your post to make a point. Grolsch is a Dutch beer.

Ah, finally living up to your title, I see, Calis! Way to go, oh Evil Dictator!

So, what /kind/ of beer is Grolsch? Is it Dark? Lager? Stout? Amber Ale? Is it malty, or hoppy? When you drink enough, do you get malty or hoppy?

If you ask me, Grolsch sounds more like a good name for a Half-Ogre than a beer...

Grolsch produces many beers, such as the infamous "Het Kanon" (really hefty stuff, they don't export it though. At least, they don't seem to promote it on their international website, just the Dutch one.), but we drank their regular lager, which is really the best Dutch lager. (kicks the shit out of Heineken)
Actually, part of my liking Grolsch is political, because I live really close to one of their main factories. (they had a lot of damage when that fireworks storage exploded, a little over a year ago)

    Jureel -
    Mardi Gras. MARDI.

    Calis -
I wonder if one can get Grolsch here in the US. Generally if it's good (and there's a profit to be had), we eventually get our grubby Capitalist hands on it.
Heineken is pretty good, so now I'm curious about Grolsch.

    "Grolsch SMASH!!!" *hic*
