    Why is that?

Anyway, I made it to the HUB, that place reminds of New York City and night *shudders*.
Anyway, I'm playing as that premade Albert guy, I wonder what I should do next...

/edit Wow, just got to necropolis. Those supermutants are hard. Even at 100 speech, I still can't talk my way out of it. Shooting him is hard too because they guy with the flame gun can take me with one hit. Any tips on that part?

Make you own custom character and level up a bit more more before you go to necropolis.

Necropolis is tough for a reason, you know...

Yeah, it's tough because the Super Mutants all have big guns...

Another note, for all you Fallout veterans out there - has anyone else heard rumours of a secret area at the Glow, or have I been misinformed/bullshitted/misheard?

Yes, as in a secret, hidden room, filled with nasty enemies (not robots) with some serious weaponry that kicks anyones ass.

No one you'd know. I heard it only one time. And when I say hidden, I mean HIDDEN. As in a super super super super secret wall/door panel type hidden thing.

Hmm... I was going to goto the glow just now in my game, but I need some rad-x and rad-away (I already have some radiation poisening). Where's the best place to get that kind of stuff?

    The Hub.

Go to Old Town and talk to the chemist (forgot his name, Jacob or Vance or something like that :-? ).

You could also bring a geiger counter just to be sure.

Nah, don't bother with the Geiger counter unless you have money to waste. If you take two Rad-Xs, your resistance will be 100% and you won't get irradiated.

While you're in that section of the Hub picking up drugs, stop by the weapons dealer there and pick up a Super Sledge. That's a great weapon, escpecially at that stage of the game. Unless you have no melee skill. Still, good weapons there.

And if you're strong enough, rescue the brotherhood of steel member that's being held captive in one of the houses.

That can be hard fight, even with combat armour. Best wait till you're in the Brotherhood before taking them on.

Nah, all it takes is some strategery. You're right though, Combat Armor helps absorb all those fully auto shotgun blasts.

But back on to strategery. What I do is make sure I have a decent weapon like a combat shotgun. Something with full auto. Then I stand next to the door and make sure I have a few of my followers crowded around me. Then I open the door, bust a few thousand pellets in the leader guy's dome and run back past my followers so the bad guys can't get a shot on my.

Round 2, and Ian et al. take the brunt of the counterattack. With any luck this will kill him, because he's a horrible NPC that deserves to die. While Ian and the rest of your crew are taking it like men, make your way north to where the two hub guards in combat armor are standing. If you can (and this might take some luck), hide somewhere behind them and wait for the bad guys to start shooting at you. Since they just spray their weapons all over the place, odds are, they'll hit one of the guards. Then they're fucked. I say this might take luck, because they might waste all their ammo killing off your friends and go after you with melee attacks. If you have some melee skill and a super sledge from the illegal arms dealer, then go at it toe to toe.

Milo has it down pat. Although, I used my Sniper Rifle from close range through the window up north. Opened up with an aimed shot to the eyes and blew one of the suckers head off. Then walked to the side of the window one step. THey'll come running out at you. You can do a few turns of shots through the windows before they eventually get outside. Your NPCs will start laying into them at that stage. Hopefully Ian will blow one away close range with his SMG. Then, just run across the road to the police and hang by them. They'll get hit (hopefully, not by you) and will join in soon enough.

OR, you can come back later on in the game wheh you're packing Power Armour and just go into a fisticuff. Great fun if you're unarmed skill is high.

While DU's method is more tactically sound than mine, it doesn't put Ian in enough danger. There's nothing more satisfying than surprising a room full of bad guys and then ducking behind Ian as he takes multiple fully auto shot gun blasts and armor piercing rounds to his face! I really hated Ian. Ever since I took a full 15 rounds of SMG to the back of my head courtesy of Ian, I tried to put him in the most danger in every encounter, even to the extent of risking my own skin.

DU is right about the sniper rifle, too. That's a great weapon. Another one you could use is that modified sniper pistol that the old famer has. He's also in The Hub, hiding in a broken down house near the Iguana-Onna-Stick guy. Do his quest and get a .223 handgun.

Or just know your tactics and your followers give you a hand.

Oh Btw... I wanted to know this for a long time...

the followers I had were tycho... the dude from shady sands, dogmeat and the green haired girl from the boneyard...

    Are there anymore.?????

    And another question...

WHen you're in the back of the cathedral you can see a dog through the window which has a name... but for some reason I allways managed to get dogmeat killed before that... so tell me... is there anything you can do with that dog...????????

If you save the brotherhood initiate before joining the brotherhood and if your rep is over 15 you will get a powerarmor from the trainer guy at the brotherhood.

Try talking to Harry as a dumb character. he lets you walk right on by after he goes:

    HARRY: Wuh?
    PC: Wuh?
    HARRY: Huh?
    PC: Huh?
    HARRY: Wuh?
    PC: Mom.

I have actually talked my way past those Super Mutants before. I just like killing them :).

The .223 pistol rocks. So does the turbo plasma rifle - I love cruising around with hardened Power Armour, turbo plasma rifle and the .223 pistol.

With that fight in the Hub, I stand there and "take it like a man". The assault rifle is surprising good at long range sometimes, especially with the single shot. Don't try the combat shotgun unless you are no more than 5 hexes away (and even then, you may not want to) because otherwise it just sucks.
