    Who said anything about computers?

I'm creating a Temple of Elemental Evil.

And since Lareth was a Dark Elf, I'm running the Moathouse.

Since I have yet to play the game, is there a toll?

Sure there are. You could be Oohlgrist, the troll chief in the temple.

Under the assumption you misread my question:
I'm asking about a toll - as in fee; not troll - as in creature.

Same thing. In fact, if you're a troll who owns a bridge, you toll people to cross it. Or riddle them.

Or both, but it would make much sense. If you don't decide to take tolls from every man or woman who answers wrong on the riddle. Which still just is a waste of time, since you can, if you're a troll, just smash them in the head and take their money. That way, you just skip the two boring parts and focus on the most important part; the robbery.

Well, it made more sense with regards to the context!

Why don't they make a RPG where you could play as a monster instead of Generic Heroic Fantasy Superman? There are too few of those.

Trolls are often referred to as monsters and I'm quite sure you can play as a troll in a couple of different RPG:s. These days most RPG are very "open" in their storyline. If you want to play as an evil troll, or orc for that matter, then I suggest you try a game I'm sure you have; Oblivion. Even thou the game isn't perfect, and the scaling system is fucked up, you can always make an orc who's "meaning of of life" is to kill every living, non-spawning creature. Or just do "evil"- quests.

You've probably already tested this, or similar, but... well, then this post is quite pointless.

I was rather thinking of an RPG where the very point is to be an evil monster and kill the heroic pansies trying to save the world, something along the lines of Dungeon Keeper (which I never played, but I fancy the concept). Most RPG's that offer an evil storyline typically require you to save the world in order to reach completion anyhow, except you intimidate people for more quest reward (and consequently miss out on the +85 Sword of Assraping you'd get for not wanting that 2gp for saving the NPC's entire family).

In the scenario you describe, I too would play evil.

Most games allow you the option but most of the fairies in the world want to save the day and tell their friends the next day. Most of the evil storylines and even characters and much more exciting to use anyways.

Mmmmm, Dungeon Keeper. I remember when I was younger and spent days at Wolfsbane, watching him play that game. Even thou I never played it myself. Great game anyway. Both of them.

No matter how dirty Tel could be, DK is the greatest game in its genre (not only because it's the only in this genre!). It's pity it hanged at fucked up too often. And the only RPG where you could play as a troll is Neverwinter Nights (with the help of 4-5 level Mage spell allowing you to transform for a while)

Baldur's Gate 2 did have a cloak allowing you to shapechange into a troll for a while, though... Don't remember if the Shapechange spell could do that, even.

Polymorph Self did that. You'd randomly change from one monster to the next, gaining all of their special abilities for a short time. Then you'd change back. The cloak was more fun, though.

Shapechange (or was it Polymorph Other? did a Shapechange spell even exist in the game?) only turned people into rabbits, was that it?

Cloaks are cooler than spells, because they're always on.
