And I now find myself in an email argument with some moron in China who claims he has US$100,000 notes that he can offload at less than face value despite my repeatedly telling him that the 100,000 note was only ever used between financial institutions and never held by private individuals and EVERY SINGLE ONE of the approx. 42,000 notes printed was recalled and destroyed by the Nixon government along with all the other high denomination notes the USA used to have.

Well it's a good thing money grows on trees, otherwise the U.S. would be in debt forever after this stimulus spending...

And if they let us keep all that money, there wouldn't be any need for a stimulus package.

Neither is increased government spending leading to higher taxes and more powerful federal government.

Seeing as the money goes out as well, they hardly get more powerful. Furthermore the state can print money. And besides, China already owns you.

They get more powerful by spending our money on more socialistic programs that control more and more aspects of our lives.

And as for China, I give you an old saying: If you owe your neighbor $100, that's your problem. If you owe your neighbor $1,000,000,000 it's his problem.

What's all this I hear about the higher-ups in the bankrupt firms using stimulus money to give themselves bonuses? Can they really do that?

Yes grimm they can. THey shouldn't, but they can.

Take Midway for example, the creators of Mortal Kombat. They're bankrupt and are trying to restructure and the restructuring plan includes 1.3 million bonuses to the execs if they can sell the MK franchise or 1.9 million if they can restructure without selling it.

Anyone who can resurrect that franchise deserves a million dollars.

People complaining about "government power" miss the point that the government already has absolute power over you, should it choose to exercise it.

If it didn't, it wouldn't be a government.
