Trolls are a necessary part of a thread's discord cycle. While some threads are just fine and dandy with going, "off-topic," others need that extra oomph that comes from the dedicated few trolls throwing garbage and other equally distasteful refuse into it. It's what I like to call a "splash of trash". Too much trash, however, and the thread begins to rot and become unusable, leading to a case of "thread reconciliation", during which time the senior forum members attempt to salvage the rotting thread by correcting the troll's misdeeds, though efficacy depends entirely on the willingness of the troll to cooperate and become a forum frequenter with mild troll characteristics. Some trolls will forever remain trolls, however, and must be dealt with accordingly.
