I'm sure a lot of you already know this but it came as a surprise to me. From reading the manual I was under the impression that Half-Ogres can't use firearms. But it turns out they can use any two-handed firearm in the game i.e. rifles.
I'm pretty sure that was in the manual. In the half-ogre or ogre section, there was a tiny little blurb about them not being able to use handguns.
Guess I should have given a little more thought to the half-ogre in Willenbeckers gang. I just assumed the manual was right and the designers took a little liberty in giving him a shotgun. The little blurb in the manual goes "They probably could make some use of tools or technological devices, if these were of an appropriate size; but such items are seldom made to fit an oversized hand or body."
Good question. Just guessing though the protos for rifles, etc. are "2 hands fixed" so most likely no shield and rifle. Haven't tested it though.
Only problem there is getting a Half-Ogre proficient in firearms (i.e one who can shoot worth a sh*t). Unfortunately, no follower NPC ogre or half-ogre fits that description. I am looking for a way to change follower's autoleveling schemes though. Let you know what I find there.
Why would you want to equip a half-ogre with a gun anyways? The strength bonus for a half-ogre goes to waste if you do. That's four extra strength going to waste when you could be using it to bash in the heads of your foes.
Check the Mad Texan's Industrial Salvage site. http://madtexan.com/arcanum/schemes.html Gamenut, probably for the same reasons anyone chooses to play any type of character. [ This Message was edited by: Otto Krupp on 2002-02-15 07:39 ]
