Unusual, amusing and climatic. Three characteristics, which hardly ever meet in a outstandingly high budget game, decided to appear in such a little home-made beauty. Easy, short, yet very satisfying.
The sound and music is the real winner. They work together with those wacky graphics to create a most surreal experience. The little noises the main character-thing makes are downright adorable.
I'm always happy to see things that break away from convention. This is the first time in years that I have seen a space story of sorts that has felt truly alien, what with the surreal spacecraft (planets?) and all. Sure, it is a pixel hunt and a fairly easy one at that, but that doesn't keep it from being enjoyable. Far from it.
That was fun stuff and just different enough to keep my attention. Now, for now particular reason, I want to play The Neverhood again.
Neverhood! Wonderful game. It is a shame really that adventure gaming declined the way it has. I guess that in a world dominated by 3d graphics, point and click adventures just couldn't keep up the pace.
Neverhood. Hmph, when I was young and stupid, I so easily rejected this game after seeing some screenshots and nothing more, even though I'm not the judging-by-graphics type. I would be more than happy to see that game in a store nowadays. I heard some nice things about it and the fact, that Samorost reminded someone about it makes me want to try out Neverhood even more.
Yes. I admit to reading the wall. All of it. I also admit to dying in a game in which you can't die. Spoiler Well, just one way. And you're warned. But I did it anyway. Wheeee!
