Where does one start watching Doctor Who? I downloaded (they don't seem to be very buyable) the first two episodes (or whatever, they were four or so episodes long each, so about 2 hour-episodes). The black and white is kind of putting me off but in the second part of the first episode there were cave-men, and they annoyed me so I stopped watching. Should I try again or start somewhere else?

Mathboy: I recommend the 4th Doctor, played by Tom Baker.
He entered during the 12th season in "Robot" and bowed out at the end of the 18th season in "Logopolis".

I'll get to it as soon as possible, thank you rroyo! How does it work by the way, are the Doctors the same person only played by different actors or are they different people?

And I watched today's episode of House, and it really was wonderful! Sorry if I sounded like I didn't like it before.

There's a nice little hook to the storyline that whenever the currrent Doctor dies, his body "regenerates" into a new form. This allows for different actors with different styles to step into the role and keep the series more or less fresh for the next generation.

BTW: Dr. Who started as a kids' show in 1963. Black and white TV was pretty much the standard back then.

Here's a decent place to come up to speed about the good Doctor:
