The North Korean are haveing than Nuclear Weapon Program because for the Eight year America refuse to normalise tie with then as we have with Vietant. We refuse to neograte than peace treaty to end the 1950 Korean War which we didnot win. The speek which Bush the Idiot gave in which he call North Korea, Iran and Iraq than Axis of Evil was total wrong than inappoach for than world leader to make.
Chuck, this is incredibly biased to say the least. The reason you cited, may in fact be one of the reasons for their weapon program, but to base it as the reason is ignorant. BTW Flamingos turn pink from eating shrimp.
Really, it boils down to North Korea being smart. They want nuclear weapons the same as everyone else. They figured out a way to get them. I don't see it as a problem. Yes, George wasn't too bright labelling a bunch of countries as "evil", that doesn't do too good for international relations. It's also a shock that some American officials are surprised by this. I mean hell, you call someone evil, essentially label them as an enemy, what do you expect them to do? Bake pretzels? HAHA! I KNEW IT!!
Charles, I don't believe North Korea has normalised ties with any but a handful of countries. Why is this the fault of the USA, who themselves have fairly open diplomatic and trade policies? Surely North Korea have to take some responsibility for becoming isolated from more or less the rest of the world? BTW, the Korean War was fought between the UN and North Korea, not just the USA. I agree that Bush was an idiot for spontaneously labelling countries evil, though. Even if there is intelligence to show North Korea's involvement in terrorist activities (which to my knowledge noone is claiming there is), it should be followed up discreetly, rather than just posturing and antagonising them. As for North Korea having nukes, it saddens and scares me, but it really is inevitable that all countries will want to bring themselves up to equivalency (at least) with the weaponary possessed by unfriendly nations. To be honest, I'm not entirely comfortable with ANY country having nukes, and that includes the USA.
I really hoped things would go well after Japan's Prime Minister's visit to Nort Korea. It really seemed that they were able to enter into the internaitonal community but unfortunately this nuke shit issue arouse. In my opinion it owuld be best if they jsut gave up the project turned let UN inspectors in and let them take away all the materials which were to be used for nukes production. North Korea could really gain a lot if they decided to collaborate with the world. I know they're untrustworthy but I can't see what they could possibly gain returning to their isolation.
What I meant we also threaten North Korea with our Nuclear weapon in the past. The new leader of North Korea is trying to clean up the past activily of the Old Leader whom kippnapped Japenession men and women to trian his Intelligence people. There are hardliner in North Korea who would to go back to the old way of doing thing and would gladly replace him. There are hardline in the America government who are not electric by the people who has too much influence on our foreign polcy and domen polcy. The SECOND DEPARTMENT give me the shorter list of Nations not working on Bio , chem or nuclear weapon program. The Short list have only about 10 nations list.
Hang on, just give me a minute to reply... *Initiate decipher program* *Decipher program initiated* *Translating message...* *5%...* *14%...* *24%...* *ERROR* *Unable to decipher message* *User input required:* *Type. The new leader of North Korea is trying to clean up for the mistakes of the past. I'm not too certain how developing nuclear weapons in violation of a treaty is cleaning up... I don't however, disagree with them taking that action. If the reports are true and NK does have nuclear weapons, I think America's policy towards them will become very diplomatic. I don't think George is going to be declaring war over this one. It's also a dangerous proposition. First Iraq, now North Korea. If America invaded both countries, all hell would break loose. A whole bunch of nations would start becoming a little concerned with America's actions. Most of them would start thinking "We're next!" and if America strikes first, without UN backing... It's likely some of those countries that think they're next, will strike first against America. Then the rest of the world will have to deal with a bunch of Americans whining about "Hey! Allies! We saved your butts! Now it's time you saved ours!" While we all roll our eyes, grumble about America actually asking for it this time, mention something like "we told you so", then help you save your own asses anyway. Yup. I look forward to the future.
The "new leader", Kim Jong-il, is the son of the "old leader". Not much is known about him, but he is credited by some with making the North Korean nuke program happen. He is also extending his father's policy of self-reliance, which I would say is deepening at least some aspects of the North Korean diplomatic problems. Also, why is this guy only releasing the kidnapped businessmen now? He's been in power for 8 years. I don't think we should ignore the question "How long does it take to teach Japanese?" I think it's entirely possible the guys have served their use as teachers and are now serving a further use as political pawns.
Just how long he would have reiman leader it he did this at the start of his resign. In any Dictorship the Dictorer have very little power to do thing which might upset the other center of power like the Sercet Police, the Militialy and the other top party leader. After Stalin die the head of his secret police was to take over. The Militiary hated his gut along with other member of the commun party. So they both turn on him an kill him.
So what you're saying is that while the new leader may be in favour of changing things, the rest of the establishment - who he answers to - are keen to keep things the way they were under Kim Il-sung? So really, North Korea as a state is not all that changed. If they're not really changed, why should other countries treat them as if they were (eg by normalising relations)? Surely, if Kim Jong-il turns up and says to the Clinton, "Look, I'm not like my dad. I want to do things different," it would be reasonable for Clinton to ask "What about all those guys standing with you who are going to carry on just as before?"
It we normaliising relations we can strenghten his and the other in the Military, the secert police , and the party that think the way the new leader think. There are hardliner in the America government who donot want to normalise relationship as would mean than end of their idear of conquestion North Korea.
