Well, I finally got around to activating my l33t news script (written for and previously used on <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.com" target="_blank">RPG Codex</A>). Praying while I unleashed my conversion script on all the news data was fun, but I managed to drag it all - kicking and screaming - into the database. Anyway, if anything's not working be sure to go complain about it on the forum.
Hello, I have been searching for over 6 months now to use on my gaming clan's website, and you seem to be the only ones who have this script made and in use. Would you mind giving me a copy of this news script that you've made?
I agree with Anonymous, ToEE's out, an IRC chat has been and gone and yet... No news. Is this a policy of 'No news is good news'? [WR] Agent, www.rpgcodex.com also have a nifty news script just like this one. Their's actually works though as there's lots of news over there. Go over there and ask them. You definately won't want our broken one.
Heh. Don't blame my script, blame the newsies. Anyway, you're better off with any of the other freeware news scripts available. Mine is a thrown-together pile of code. Getting it to work without my help would be annoying at the least. Do a search on http://www.hotscripts.com and you'll be sure to find one that works on your clan homepage's server.
yeah, i have tried that...the only decent one I found was cutenews, which is not compatable with phpBB, and I do need a script thats compatable wtih phpBB. lol I have written my own, however can't add bb code, hyperlinks, smilies...just plain text, which sucks...Idk how to fix it. :cry:
Well, I can send you the PHP for generating comment threads that my scripts use. What I generally do is have a separate form and database table for the news and then store the topic ID in the news table as well. Also, my news form is HTML, not BBCode. I just enabled HTML for the right people in the right forum within phpBB, so you enter news posts with HTML and it stores them that way in the forum as well. Alternatively, there's a phpBB portal project somewhere that uses phpBB to make an entire site portal.
Ahhh... So your script's not broken, it's just too hard to use! Okay, jokes at Calis' expense aside, where is everyone? I mean, the admins and such? Jinxed is on hiatus until hell freezes over, Jarinor has disappeared and that leaves Snowmane, who's... somewhere... but obviously not here for the time being. I mean, okay, the place isn't hugely popular (actually, I don't know what the average daily unique IP hit for T-A is), but some news from someone, please. Anything. Anyone? Hellooo....? Anybody home? I ask mainly because I'd like to help re-design this place and get some Greyhawk and Bloodlines content happening, I also want to combine Amtut into T-A too but I can't do anything, or see if anyone is actually interested, if no-one's around.
Don't blame me! I swear, it wasn't my fault! First, I get my wisdom teeth out, then the hard drive on the computer bites the dust, and it takes a couple of days for me to get around to fixing it. Other than that though, I have been pretty lazy. Let's all blame Jinxed, since he can't defend himself.
