    Game of Thrones

Maybe now George R.R. Martin will write the last book since they are making it into a TV series.

Oh no. Scuze me, there's a number I need to block on my phone to protect my fragile sanity.

What number is that? Magikot's number for reporting this information? G. R. R. Martin's number for writing the book? HBO's number for producing this series? A person you know IRL's number for enjoying this series of books and potentially calling you up and talking to you about it?

Where else have I seen somebody use inside jokes in public areas where nobody will understand it? I think his name started with an 'H'...

Anyway, I'm sure this will be good. HBO rarely churns out anything bad (in fact, I can't think of anything bad off the top of my head), and G.R.R. Martin's writing already transitioned into screen perfectly in the series premier of the Outer Limits back in '95 or '96 (granted, the episode bore only rudimentary relation to the short story, which was kind of poorly written in my opinion). This will be a great show.

Ooooh, the Outer Limits. That show is fuckin' awesome.

I need to let a friend know that extreme gushing on his part will result in extreme violence on my part. He adores everything George R.R. Martin has ever written but is obsessive about A Game of Thrones to the point of being a raving fanboy on the level of the average Twihard.

I, on the other hand, much prefer his Xavier Desmond tales for Wild Cards, especially From The Journal Of Xavier Desmond from Wild Cards: Aces Abroad.

Mutants and Masterminds has a Wild Cards supplement.

Your knowledge of everything Green Ronin does that isn't their magnum opus disturbs me.

I would totally HAVE that M&M suppliment if I had the cash, trust me! I grew up on those Wild Cards books, I have the GURPS Wild Cards suppliment, and I can reel off Doctor Tachyon's full name without thinking.

But yeah, Green Ronin makes some damn fine gaming material. I actually need to get the errata'ed Dragon Age already... I have the link, I just haven't downloaded it.

I'm waiting for the Supervillain's Handbook. It's been 'coming soon!' since Summertime. It'll probably suck due to all these delays.

Quite possibly. Of course, Green Ronin's suck is better than Wizards of the Coast at their best. (Why yes, I do hate WotC for a great many decisions they've made, however did you guess?)

I actually like some of the things WotC churned out. Their rulebook for running adventures during large scale battle scenes is amazing.

Yes, yes, 3.5 was a beautiful game system which WotC decided to abandon when they released 4th Edition, which had all the same content spread into twice as many expensive books, while somehow ensuring all the fun elements were removed, and cast using the moulds that were used to make World of Warcraft. Uh-huh, thanks, but no thanks, and I'm going elsewhere.

Heroes of Battle is still one of my favorite supplements.

Started with 4th edition and finding it enjoyable.

And thanks the the player creator, there is no need to buy the books.

I think the only reason people relate WoW and 4E is the artwork. They don't play anything alike at all. And 4E matches the popular artstyle done in the Eberron books, so they're not even ripping off of Blizz in that regard.

I don't like 4th Edition, and I really don't like what they're doing to Eberron. *grumps* I'll stick to my 3.5 thanks.

    The art IS nice, though.

Eberron always sucked. But they are bringing Dark Sun back in August.

Given this wasn't around for 3.5, but is being made 4e compatible, I am quite happy to finally be enjoying 4e.

Meh. I just never could get into Eberron. Only thing about that entire setting that I actually enjoyed was the Artificer class.

My 3 favorite campaign settings have always been (in order) Ravenloft, Dark Sun, and Planescape.

I like Eberron for Artificers, the feeling that there's room for almost everything (although my group as a whole went 'fuck psionics, fuck the kalashtar, we like this Dalekyr stuff a lot more anyways'), the inversion of stereotypes, and well, frankly the first Eberron campaign I was part of was just incredibly fun.

Having said which, about damn time they gave Dark Sun a proper revival.

Digging up this thread since an official premiere date has been set for April 17.

There are some behind the scenes clips and previews on its home page.

The only actor that I recognize though is Sean Bean as Ned Stark. You may know him as Boromir from the Lord of the Rings movies.
