I was reading my current Game Informer and saw a blurb about Interplay getting back together and scrounging up cash to make a new Fallout game!!!

Unfortunately they're making it an MMORPG....so I might have to kill them.

What's with kids these days, not appreciating the splendour of a genuine single-player adventure? *goes off grumbling*

They think that if they can do it online with friends they can get away from the geek status they are trying to avoid. It's all about them not being able to admit that they are indeed gamers, but dosn't have to be socialy handicapped to do so.

    Or something like hat.

You know, I used to love the Warcraft series. Then came Warcraft 3 with it's brightly coloured cartoon armies, and then it all turned into a lame MMORPG. Now the same is happening to Fallout.

    Gehenna is upon us.

    You might be right...
But I don't know why everyone(..) hates WC3 so much, I mean, I don't mind the graphic that much.

It's the battle.net gameplay that is the real good stuff.

Warcraft 3 is a fine example of 3d used simply for the sake of being next-gen. Heck, the sprites in WC2 managed to look a lot more stylish and provided a lot more atmosphere than the bumbling balloons of WC3 did AND IT'S THE FUCKING PREQUEL.

I never really understood why is so fucking good to make _everything_ 3D (strategy games, RPGs, etc), as opposed to pre-rendered isometric or top-down view.

Low poly counts, blurred textures, inconsistent quality textures, clipping errors, errors in physics, enourmous video card requirements, etc etc etc.

Oh, well if you see it that way.

You might be right, but I like WC3 mostly for the easy World Editor and the B.Net gameplay.

I liked Warcraft III's graphics. They blew Starcraft out of the water, if you ask me. It's funny how games that look exactly the same can be classified as "Cartoony" by people who don't like it, and "Stylized" by people who do like them. It probably wouldn't be the same for me if everything was ultra-realistic.

    Anyways, I heard they're making a Fallout 3.

EDIT: And WC3's camera pan seriously kicks ass, imo.

Fallout 3 should be a great game, it just won't have the same type of energy behind it as the first two. I think it looks fantastic, but I'll have to wait till next year to play it. Also, Starcraft 2 is coming out, and that's going to blow WC3 out of the water.

It might blow it out of the water, but I don't know if the World Editor will be as good. It better be, because the WC3 players who all say "K, leaving now, see you in SCII" aren't really going to play BNet without it. :p

They better have a zombie unit, so I can relive the good ol' days.

If they have a worls Editor that is anything like the WC3:TFT, there will evantually be zombies in it.

Some of the fan made skins that shows up in WE is pretty awesome, they couldve been in the game.

While ToEE and the Infinity games have their flaws, you'd be hard pressed to find a game with better-looking areas.

The Infinity Engine is pre-rendered isometric.

    Haven't tried ToEE yet.

Buggy like hell (can't even get it to RUN with the 3rd patch installed) and many find it rather bland in the story/dialogue department, but if you want a turnbased dungeon romp with some of the best-looking areas I've ever seen in an isometric adventure, it's the game for you.

I never could get TOEE to run... perhaps I'll try again one of these days when I need a little extra frustration in my life.

It's simply unbelievable. On this comp, if I run it unpatched I get as far as to character creation, but the game invariably crashes to desktop whenever I wish to begin adventuring. With the first patch in, the radial menus are all wonky, and they're like essential for the game to be playable. The second patch doesn't change anything, and with the third patch in it simply won't run. Then you try installing the Co8 patches (which I dislike somewhat, since they change so many things...), yet all you get is a black screen while trying to start it up.

It's a fucking lottery trying to find the right combination of official and fan-made fixes. It's probably easier to convince a psychiatrist that gnawing off your right arm so that you can hide beneath the floorboards is perfectly sane than get this shit running properly.
