Sometimes, when I talk to a npc, I am given the same response/question twice. For instance, I go to talk to the phrenology guy in tarant to get the skulls back. I get these choices: I've come to talk to you about those skulls. I've come to talk to you about those skulls. Good day. The two options that are the same have entirely different outcomes. I pick the first one, he gets all suspicious and won't let me have the skulls. I pick the second one, and I am able to threaten him into giving me the skulls. The phrenology guy is not the only npc that this happens on. Is this happening because I got expert persuasion? (Didn't happen before I got ex. in pers.) Or is it a bug? I had expert persuasion, and if I remember correctly, that sort of bug never happened to me. It seems like one of your files got screwed up. Not sure which one handles the dialogue scripts, since I never got that deep into creating my own mods. Maybe someone who has experience with the dialogue scripting can take a look at one of your .mes(?) files and see what's wrong. Short of that, the only thing I can think of is backing up your save games, and then re-installing Arcanum. Or, get the latest patch if you haven't done so already. This might have been a known bug that got fixed in the latest patch (1.0.7.4).
well, I don't know if I want it to be taken out, because it gives me 2 different options to a lot of important dialouges....You've really never seen this before????
Nope, never seen it. Or at least I don't remember seeing it. I think the deal is something like this. You'd normally get two dialogue options anyway, because of your persuasion. These should have different text, not the same lines. So I'm thinking that this isn't a helpful bug, since what you "say" isn't what the computer "hears". It'd be better to fix the problem so you can actually see what it is you're saying before you say it.
It's another one of those fairly rare dialogue errors. If you realised how much and complicated dialogue can get in the game, the current error rate is VERY acceptable. As Milo said, it's probably been fixed in the patch.
ive come across that too. ive seen the same thing with the dwarf king in waiting guy and sameone else too. it was in the elf area somewhere. it might have been raven the first time you see her. i dont no it almost seem like real life in a way. asking the same thing twice cause youve been up for to long playing computer games or on the net.
