I'm sure these have been posted over nine thousand times, or most of you know each other well enough already, but like most forums, you all have necrophobia.

Anyway, post your favorite music genres and favorite TV show/Movie genres (or you can go even more specific and post the names of shows).

I like electronic music (mostly techno and trance), and am addicted to science fiction and comedy.

I rarely watch television, but when I do, it's typically one of the following series:

    House
    Scrubs
    Family Guy
    My Name is Earl

Hrafninn flýgur could be one of my favorite movies, if only for the awesome cult status.

When it comes to music, my taste is probably too broad and omnivorous to be fitted into one specific genre.

Whoa! You eat your music? :p

    TV Shows:
    House M.D.
    Penn & Teller: Bullshit!
    Weeds
    South Park
    Breaking Bad
    Dirty Sexy Money
    Prison Break
    The Big Bang Theory
    The Colbert Report

    Films:
    Beowulf & Grendel
    Stranger Than Fiction
And last, but definitely not least: Beerfest

    Music:
I am, like DE tried to describe himself as, but utterly failed, too omniaudious to be fitted into one specific genre.

    TV:
    NCIS
    CSI (Las Vegas)
    Bones
    Numbers
    Law & Order
    Any paleo documentary
    The Universe

    Favorite movies by genre:
    1) Sci-fi/fantasy - Tremors, Fantastic 4, Pirates of the Carribean (all 3)
    2) Western - El Dorado, Quigley Down Under, Two Mules for Sister Sarah
    3) Comedy - Down Periscope, Caveman, Indian Summer
    4) Animated - Snow White & the 7 Dwarves, The Adventures of Gulliver, Final Fantasy
    5) Action/Adventure - Die Hard, Volcano, Master and Commander
    6) Informational: Chased by Dinosaurs, Dragon's World, Walking with Dinosaurs
    7) Feel-good - Fly Away Home, Babe
8 ) Drama - Jaws, The Deep, High Road to China

    Music:
Literally from Bach to Rock. You name it and there's something there I like - with the noteworthy exception of rap.
Twenty plus years and I still haven't found a single rap song I can stand to listen to more than once. Every other form has had at least one song that caught my ear - most far more than one.

Well "omniaudious" is a made up word, or that is, I made it from "omni" meaning "all" and, "audio" meaning "I listen" instead of "voro" meaning "I eat."

Ok, my turn to cut and paste my facebook page.

    TV Shows
    House, M.D.
    The Boondocks
    The Colbert Report
    The Daily Show
    The Office
    Top Gear
    Dexter
    Entourage
    Planet Earth

    Music
I'm pretty much the opposite of rroyo. I know he said he listens to everything but rap, but I bet he doesn't listen to hardcore either, which is the only other thing I listen to.

T.I., 2Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., N.W.A., Ghostface Killah, AZ, Tailb Kweli, Mos Def, Common, Black Star, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Binary Star, Reflection Eternal, The Game

The Chariot, Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, Haste the Day, Mercury Switch, As Cities Burn

Consequently, I'm far too monoaudious to listen to 99% of the music on the radio.

    You'd loose.
Working maintenance at a family complex I get to hear hundreds of different songs in a couple dozen different genres during the week. And then there's the tunes they use on TV or in the movies - some of those are catchy.

For the most part, I couldn't tell you the names of the hardcore rock, metal, or trancer (rave?) music I've overheard and liked, but I have found a few that didn't turn me off and I'd buy the album if I knew the title and had the money to spare.

Now - it's been a while since I've added anything new to my collection but songs like Sandman, a rave version of Popcorn, and Bat Out of Hell are still on my personal Top 10 playlist.

The rest depends upon the mood I'm in and what I'm doing at the time.

My security won't let it play and Alltheweb couldn't find samples of the songs listed.
Do you happen to know of a download link for any of them?

Good thinking. And since we're on the topic of youtube, here's something that wasn't shot with someone's camera phone. It's also one of my favorite songs:

    Shows;

    Family Guy
    Metalocalypse
    Scrubs

^^These are the only three shows I consistently watch. Everything else is used as background noise.

    Music;
    Rammstein
    The Sword
    Dr. Steel
    Tool
    People Under the Stairs
    Jedi Mind Tricks
    Run DMC
    System of a Down
    Tenacious D
    Queen
    Modest Mouse
    Radiohead
    Stemage
    Dethklok
    Lemon Demon
    Drist

I've been trying to average out my musical tastes to one category but it won't really work. Jedi Mind is some violent and hateful rap, but they've got a solid sound. People Under the Stairs is rap too, but they mainly write about getting high with their friends, and spending time with their family.
Queen is the most prevalent of my tastes, and I have no idea why. I have 80 songs by Queen, possibly more.

Unfortunately, I like almost no classic songs because I heard them repeated far too many times when I was a child. There are exceptions, but I couldn't even name them.

Thanks Xz, but that doesn't help me any.

Until I can afford to move my hack to a designated computer, the security settings won't let virually anything online play. YouTube, streaming videos, virtually all online music, and anything flash is blocked.

If I can download it, not a problem - but I've got my security maxed out to protect two years worth of hard work that's currently sitting on my browser.

I know what you mean. I have dozens and dozens of backup copies of my mods, data files, documents, etc. both on my laptop and my portable hard drive. If I suddenly realize that I made a mistake that I haven't detected for a month, I can go back to March 2007.

Aren't there options in your browser to allow pages to load, but just ask you with a million text boxes about every bit of content that could make your computer vulnerable? I imagine that youtube itself can probably be trusted. You can turn off cookies as well to block effects of ads, if that makes a difference. Maybe someone like Frigo who knows about things like this could comment further.

Probably, but last week my browser computer was in the shop for four days because a hijacker was grafted onto a former doll furniture site turned spambot's start page.

Maxed-out security and it still got through. Edit - So far, this has been the only thing that's gotten through in just under a year!

I'm not willing to take the risk that YouTube's malware detectors will catch everything.

Whoa. If that happened to me, I'd weld my network card rj45 jack shut. Then, I'd put my computer in a safe inside a safe.

How much damage did it cause?

It was primarily a browser-redirecter. Took me on a tour of several pervert sites before I pulled the connection.

Other than that, it turned off the antivirus and all the Windows malware protectors.

BTW: I tracked down a song by As Cities Burn that is one of the ones I like. Our World is Grey. Make that two - Empire just got added to the list.

I'm not sure why but the link to their page at MySpace has a music player that works for me!

Come payday I'll be buying a new album....

I don't know what songs are available there, but One:twentyseven is my favorite, and one of their best songs. I don't know what they've been up to lately, but you should definitely check that out.
