I don't think of them as RPGs so much as I think of them as interactive movies (or interactive ongoing series, for some of the newer and longer games).

To be fair, the terrible voice acting was part of the Oblivion effect.

I played Oblivion a little. Played Morrowind a little. I'll never buy Oblivion. It was neat, but with my motion sickness, I can't handle games like that.

Did Bioshock get you too? I was watching my friend playing it on a rainy day, I had to keep running outside to get over the urge to chuck. I got absolutely bloody soaked.

Nothing is 'wrong' with FPS games. It's just that some folks suffer from video game (or simulater) motion sickness. The brain sees motion, but the body (inner ear) says your not going any where. This conflict causes motion sickness. Anyone who has ever experienced any kind of motion sicknes knows how it can ruin your whole day.

    See article here.

To use another example: Simulater rides (you sit in a moving container and watch a screen) can cause mass motion sickness if the ride and video are even a split second (we're talking hundredths) out of sync.

My dad used to have the WORST car for motion sickness. You'd be looking out the window and the car was fucking bouncing around, but the suspension was so bloody uber that you didn't feel a thing. That car made me sicker than anything else I've ever been on, and that includes the beat up old bus the music tour used to cross New Zealand.

The worst case I ever had was not from a car or a ride, but a boat.
    Sick sickness really, really sucks.
That god awful nauseous feeling not only in my gut, but through out my body.
    From hair follicle to toenail.
I wanted to die, but I couldn't. I would have had to get better first. :puke:

You mean sea sickness? If that's the case, then I guess you wouldn't have enjoyed my (former) school then, since trans Atlantic sailing is part of the education.

Never seen anything in sailing. Though, I was on an actual boat once. *Pride*

Pretty sure everybody here has been on a boat at some point.

I haven't read the article yet, but if a person plays a video game with surround sound, will the motion sickness improve? I've heard they have a piece that fits in the ear that helps people who stutter now.

I don't think have surround sound would help any. It's the visuals that are causing the sickness, not the audio.

*blatantly nails thread back to topic*
since I happen to be part-Soviet, my grasp on the concept of property is sometimes slipping. I'll include the worst torrented game too :)
my biggest mistake with spending hard currency would be Starlancer. I've expected something like Freelancer, so might have tolerated the bad story and universe. but a PC game, and space shooter as well, without mouse support - that hurt.
from the day I've got DSL the worst thing I've torrented was AquaNox2. let's forgive the story and gameplay, but the game's missions, physix and AI are abyssmal.
and yes, my Arcanum is *cough* unofficial *cough* -
fat chance to buy legit games for a 1.3GHz CPU computer today :)

Word of advice, JLT. Edit that post, and replace a certain word of illegality with 'purchased' before an admin notices, and you're banned.

Surrond sound doesn't help: I've 7.1 surround plugged into my computer, and I still get queasy as fuck.

yeah, thanx buddy. a little TOR and a forgotten mail alias work as well :)
just curious - is it an IP ban, a IP mask ban (that would be kinda overkill due to hitting pretty much anybody from the provider company in question) or something like cookies involved?
P.S. please don't ban again - I don't want to register as something weird again :)
P.P.S. since this user ID is kinda a dead give-away, I'm gonna reg as something less obvious and keep lurking :)
