    You still playing, Jar?

I got it a week or so ago and have been playing it a bit. My brother got it too, and Lysa has now dubbed our phone the "Morrowind Hotline". I've made surprisingly little progress, though. I keep walking around in a daze. Years and years of linear RPG's have robbed me of my initiative. I need someone to tell my I'm the Child of Light or something, and point me at a save-the-world scenario.

That explains why Morrowind occasionally exits to desktop unprompted.

Why can't you play, Dragoon? Is it not out in Poland yet?

To tell the truth I don't even know if it's out yet (but I doubt it) since right now I have exam session with 3 more exams to go, one this very wednesday the other two next wednesday and thursday. And right after that I have practice at court (penal department/section whichever is proper one in English) which probably won't leave me with a lot of spare time on my hands for 2 weeks. And then... I'll probably go for vacation and after all that I should be able, provided I'll finally get myself new graphics card, to play Morrowind somewhere around end of July. However I'm not so depressed anymore since I know my voodoo dolls work. If only I could get them to work automatically every time someone playing Morrowind thinks/says "Damn it, this game is sooo good I even forgot to save for the last couple hours". That would be awfully funny wouldn't it Sheriff?

I still play Morrowind, Sheriff, and I envision I'll be playing it for months to come, there's just so much to do.

I'd love to help you, but what kind of problems are you having? If you tell me your problems, I can help you out the best I can.

    Here's some advice though:

    1. Join a guild or faction of some sort. It gives you something to do, gets you out and about and you get benefits from them. The Imperial Legion is good (ie they give you loads of free armour) but they send you to all corners of Morrowind, and into really remote parts, which kind of sucks. Still, the lack of monetary rewards is made up for by the armour. If you want to get rich quick, join the Fighters Guild - they pay well.

    2. If you're stuck for something to do, explore the countryside - you never know when you'll stumble across a bunch of vampires in a cave (and sell their vampire dust for heaps of money) or a smugglers cave or dwemer ruins, or daedric shrines or dunmer ruins. Balmora has some pretty cool stuff around it to the west.

    3. If you want, you can play the game in a linear fashion, although don't expect to level up much or see too much of the world. I always take acrobatics and athletics as either major or minor skills. Don't take more than 2 weapons or armour skills (you'll just never use them, because you settle into a style and they just fall by the wayside).

Hope that helps a little. Oh, if you're looking for glass armour and weapons, head to Ghostgate - it's a little tough to get there depending on your level, and you'll either need a lot of high level armour/weapons or gold to buy the stuff, but you can get a full set of glass armour is there.

I have a question re: Morrowind.

Is it at all playable on a PII 400, 128mb RAM, TNT2 vid computer? I'm dying here. I'm sitting on all these games that won't run on my machine, just waiting until I have the $$$ to upgrade. SoF2, Morrowind, GTA3, Jedi Outcast... This is killing me.

Maybe if you turned down the visual candy, resolution, and played with a view distance that is so near sighted you have trouble seeing your own sword...

Upgrade your vid card, then your processor before you think about playing Morrowind at a decent res. RAM is so laughably cheap these days that it shouldn't really be an issue...

How about Celeron 900 and Matrox G400 32MB (though I'll most probably buy something like GF2 Ti 64MB soon).

EDIT - "Balanced gameplay ensures that thief, magic user, and fighter classes enjoy equal benefits and status in the world and that no one class enjoys an unfair advantage over any other." <-- This true?

That spec is better than my machine, Dragoon, and I have no trouble (except for the occasional crash to desk top, but it is only very occasional).

Jar, I'm not having trouble, as such. I joined the mages guild and am running the first Blades errand. It's more that there are so many things my char could be doing, I'm kind of paralysed with indecision. It's okay, though, I'll get into the swing of it soon. I'm certainly enjoying the game.

Regarding skills and suchlike, I'm finding that aspect of the game straightforward. I made my own class without difficulty almost from the start and he's doing okay. I wanted to play an Argonian, and wanted a decent skillset, but also wanted to role-play the guy rather than just going for and ideal skill combination. I came up with class called "Hedge Wizard". He travels the land selling his magic. Hence, he has the more practical magical skills (enchantment/alchmemy) and some showy ones (illusion/conjuration). He also has the people skills to sell his stuff (speechcraft/mercantile) and knows enough about looking after himself not to get killed on the road (medium armour/spear).

Playing him means I don't get some of the really cool magic, like destruction/mysticism but he's doing okay. I love the spell maker. It's so useful to be able to tone down spells to bring them within my ability range, or group some spell effects for more punch.

I really doubt I'll eve rplay Morrowind, I'm hooked on Arx Fatalis, and it is just the demo, I don't need another addiction in my life. Anyways, I think I'll begin playing some NWN, something like that, I'm in the mood for some intense, action packed, deep, roleplaying...

I feel your pain. GTA3 on the lowest settings still runs like a slideshow on my computer. It's really bad. The music stutters, the sound effects are all out of sync. The one time I played it, it stuttered and lagged so bad that I couldn't control the car. It was pretty funny fish-tailing into buildings and taking out light poles and pedestrians.

"HONK HONK! Sorry folks! Slow computer!"

Finally I damaged my car enough to have it blow up. By then the smoke and fire effects were really breaking my computer. Then I hear a "boom", the car flips halfway into the air and freezes there. My hard drive access light pegs at full, I hear it whir and then start groaning. After much waiting and 0.025 FPS action, I was back at the loading screen. Oh well, Exit-->Uninstall-->Wait for the upgrade.

Thank you for your compassion Milo. (PS. someone at my school told me there was a way to play GTA3 the same way you look at GTA2, is this true???)
