more than 5 points possible in any particular skill?

    Since its theoretically possible to have more than 5 points in a skill like melee for instance, due to innate boni for half-orcs, old gods quest and whatnot I'm wondering if it is indeed possible to get more benefits (tohit chance or whatever) by achieving these boni, or not.
    I tried it with the gods quest but to no effect, to hit chance was still the same afterwards (preGod 5points melee/master).

    So, is there a chance to get more than 5 points in a skill and if there is, does it have any effect?

    You can have more than 5 points in a skill due to a few blessings glitches, but they don't actually do anything.

    I had a character with 4 points in melee finish the gods quest once and when I clicked the remove level buttom on the stats screen I actually got an extra character point.

    Is it literally no "extra" effect for over 5 points? (What I'm trying to imply is that I hope it doesn't roll over, at least.)

    By roll over do you mean go back to zero?
    If so, then no it does not do that.

    As far as I can tell there are no bonuses beyond 5 points in a skill.
    e.g. a character with a background +40 bonus to melee will not have 1000% chance to hit.
