this was sent to me by a friend and if this shit takes off, which it will as it's just another way for greedy people to make money and annoy the fuck out of me, plus it also has the added bonus of leaching all your precious, precious bandwidth... mother fucker's.

this story is from the NYTimes apparently

Oh and did you notice that it was an ONLINE survey... I wonder how many of them that took that survey were 56ker's... not many i'm tipping.

I've always been dubious about online surveys regardless of what they're about. I am yet to see one of these TV ads, so I'm not sure if I can really say yay or nay, given I have a ph4+ DSL connection.

    56k is just so, YESTERDAY.

...All my troubles seemed to far away

I hate 56k. I've had cable for a while and its amazing how much just having cable has shortened my patience on the net. Whenever I use 56k I just get bored and disgusted.

Technically I don't have an internet connection. So I guess my modem is, that rock over there <points>.

People with modems don't come to heaven. The only salvation comes through a faster connection.

As for online surveys, I only know of one single person who've said anything positive about them, and that's Sheriff Fatman. The rest of the civilized world hates them, so I really do think that they should be outruled by democracy. Hate all those popups...

I have 56k (and I doubt my parents will ever pay for anything else). Never got any of those commercials.

Yes, the popups here should (if all goes to plan) be disappearing in the next few weeks or so. If nothing goes to plan, then we'll be stuck with them for a while.

By the way, who profits from the pop-ups on this site?

    Your Mom.

I have a T3 LAN connection, but only when I am at the University. When I go back home, it's back to the old 56k that runs at 28k speeds. Damn ancient phone lines, damn country area where cable and DSL do not dwell! Seems I'll have to actually buy a modem for my sexy rig, which is sad. I wanted to just stay with my onboard ethernet card.

Go wireless. It looks sexy, it's faster than dial-up, and it's high tech.

It's also expensive, geeky technology and everyone should laugh at you for having it, except in a LAN environment involving laptops.

What I hate, more than anything, are radio ads. Those fuckers are the most annoying things ever. It's like the people think, "Ok, so they can't see our product...what's a way that we could annoy them so much that they will NEVER want our shit? I know, make a really obnoxious radio commerical so the poor fucker trying to listen to some music CAN NEVER HEAR IT. Well, except for our jingles."

I totally agree. I hate tuning into a radio station only to hear 15 minutes of ads. One time I was listening late at night and they played the same song twice, with 22 minutes of ads sandwiched in between them. It was painful.

I don't listen to the radio anymore for the same reasons I don't watch TV - there's nothing good on.

    It's worse in the US.

And yes, I've been there. Jesus, did you guys really think I'd make a statement without being able to back it up? Why are you guys so mean?! It's not fair!!!

Well, I guess that's one of the good things with having state-owned tv-channels. There's no ads at all. Too bad that most of the interesting stuff is shown at the private channels...

Doesn't matter for me though. Save the occasional moments spent in front of the Discovery channel (American Chopper rules!) I never watch TV these days. I've always got better things to do.

I don't think state owned channels are that good, it's nice to get rid of the ad's, but when your watching a 3h movie you'll want to piss, or get some food during it.

I also think the pauses are too short, it would be better to have one 10 min pause per hour than like it's now two five minutes. Because it's hard to get anything done in five minutes. You don't have time to take a shower, or shit, or something that takes that amount of time. But my brother managed to do both in one pause, but I don't like to hurry.
