What weapons are good for mages? Are melee weapons in general a bad idea? I only have about 4 spells, only one of which is an attack spell. I used a bow but can't seem to do crap with it. Oh and I tell you what squish, I do sincerely apologize for taking up your time and bothering you with a "thousand questions" If it would make you feel better please just ignore my "ridiculous posts." I do sincerely hope that if we meet somewhere else, somewhere that I'M the expert and YOU'RE the newbie, I do everything I can to help you in your time of wonderment and curiosity.

There is no reason to get upset over a situation where someone is trying to point you to a source of information where you can find the answers to your numerous questions. At no points did I state that there was a problem with having questions, however considering the number of questions you have posted in the last few hours I am sure you will have a lot more. This is exactly why I am pointing you to this source of information.

Well, squish I do apologize for flying off the handle. I also apologize for getting caught up in my excitement. I also thank you for trying to help by pointing me to a supply of information. I apologize as well for posting questions on which information is already supplied for. I will try to watch that in the future, by posting questions that are of a more technical point, a point not explained thoroughly in the manual or elsewhere. Again, I apologize for my rudeness and hope that I can regain my status of a interested, yet un-annoying forumer.

What is he doing now? Even if I see him here, he'd only post a few.

Look deep within yourself for the answer. Or, you could look in this thread and read what Calis posted.

Or you could just scroll down and read my abbreviated quote from said thread:

I know that you aren't the only spammer. I go off-topic, too. A lot of us are guilty of that. It's just that you take it overboard, man. At least when most of us go off-topic, we're following some sort of conversational flow. Or at least have something to add besides one or two words that just restate something that's already been said.

I guess I was bored. And very bored indeed. I don't know about Ioo. But I don't think my posts are that useless. Maybe in the General Discussion. Anyway, I don't think you're going to count that because I pressume you don't. Do you read between my posts? If only I know more English vocabularies and grammar maybe I can do better or should I start posting in Tagalog?

I agree with Milo here. The reason I never actually acted on this is that I tried it, way, WAY back, and there was no end to the whining it got me into. So I'm trying to see whether or not the community here will self-regulate stuff like this. So... regulate yourself, people! :p
"The Lazy Moderator's Credo"... I guess I'll need to add that to my sig one form or another.

Melee, beyond a doubt, are the best weapons for mages. In fact, I'd even start out the Melee/Mage by boosting Dexterity and Strength. Gain a spell here or there to boost your Magick Aptitude so you'll be getting the better bonuses from the magick items.

In fact, on most of my melee mages, I just use augmentation spells. Hasten(Temporal College) is a damned good one since it doubles your APs per round. Shield spells, the elemental enhancements, and various others are good as well.

Also, another great thing about melee magick, and I consider this a HUGE imbalance in the game, is that Willpower will give you additional hit points. That's what's required for gaining higher level spells, but it also makes you more of a damage sponge.

Then again, with a Dexterity of 20, you get 25APs. Throw on Hasten, and you have 50 APs. You're not going to be taking much damage with 50 APs.

    It's a shame there's no tech equivalent...

I mean, for almost every half-decent spell, there's a tech equivalent (necromizer, entire therapeutics discipline) but it's true, the hasten spell is such a disadvantage. Then again, with 25 aps, you can clean up the screen anyway - 50 aps is just a waste, unless you really suck in melee .

Maybe I'll try being a Jayna Stiles type character - some of those schematics you find in Vendigroth look really really cool. How many people here have made them and tried them out?
