    Or they could've given him some additional hitpoints, say 200 extra, and some awesome DR. Or, more powerful magic.

    What he needs is the ability to pack a solid punch.

    Also, he should be able to use Unseen Force and then bombard the player with stuff like Fireflash. Why is Mage AI so damn stupid in this game?

    This is true.
    This is bad advice. There is usually no need to put points in IN. If you have an IN of 4 you get the idiot dialog. IN 5 gives you normal dialog. IN 8 will allow you to have 18 when you take the intelligence potion which should cover every dialog. In some cases you need high IN just for one dialog option, then 5 will do thereafter. But for Ashbury, be quick.

    The only exception is for magic. Every 4 IN allows you to have another spell going at the same time.
