I've come to realize that I likely won't play D&D again for many years, if ever. So I'm going to just dump a few characters I've been thinking of here, as I'm able to write them out. Classes will most likely be based on 3/3.5e, since that's most of what I've played. Most of them will be Mary Sue types, though not all of them.

I'll start with these two. Feel free to add your own, comment on them, or whatever.

    Name: Whisper on the Wind
    Race: Elf
    Gender: Female
    Class: Ranger - 7 / Assassin - 5
    Alignment: Chaotic Neutral/Neutral Evil.
    Deity: Malar, then Lurue
    Age: Unknown

    Background:
A city-born elf who was sold to a Malar Cultist, and raised to serve Malar. Whisper started working as an assassin, in order to support the cult, but eventually became jaded, and fled. With no name ever given to her, Whisper's "name" is the pseudonym given to her by the thieves guild who employed her as an assassin. In cliched fashion, Whisper was betrayed by the thieves guild. In response to this betrayal, she hunted down the entirety of the guild, hunted down the Cultists who'd profited from her, and set off in search of something new. Pledging herself to Lurue after being helped by a unicorn while lost in a wood, Whisper dedicated herself to the land and the animals within it, focusing on hunting down poachers and those who destroy forests.

Notable equipment: Blessed Bow of Malar +2. Composite long bow. +1 versus humans, +1d4 against any fleeing opponent.

    Name: Everard of the HighMarches
    Race: Human??
    Gender: Male
    Class: Druid - 3 (4: permanent level decrease by 1) / Paladin - 5
    Age: Unknown
    Deity: Nobanion
    Alignment: True Neutral

Background: Everard would tell you that his beginnings as a druid were because he was raised in a remote area, and connecting with the woods was considered to be part of their livelihood, and so most of the community were druids in some capacity. The truth of the matter is that he grew up somewhere without many kids, and being a druid meant he could have an animal familiar. He even gave up his ability to wildshape, and some of his druidic powers, in exchange for getting to have a second familiar. He will boldly claim the two cats following him are actually dragons, and insist that their showing perfectly cat-like behavior is proof that they're diligent in their deception. After discovering a weapon blessed by Nobanion in a long-forgotten crypt, Everard dedicated himself to being a paladin, and serves as perhaps the only Holy Messenger of Nobanion. Most Humans are wary around Everard, and so he takes a -1 modifier to charisma-based skill checks against them. After too much time in a bar or inn, people will start questioning if he's human, as there's something simply "off" about him. This has made him an avid traveler, and one who tends to prefer the company of other races.

Notable Equipment: Cat King's Flail +3. Low-Sentient Weapon. Flail with fluffy, pink ball at the end. 10% chance to cause confusion. Deals no damage to any creature that the flail considers feline. This Tabaxi, and has occasionally included manticores. However, on successful hit it has a 25% chance of causing confusion to any feline opponent, and a 5% chance to cast level 4 charm.

    Familiars: Two Gray Cats(??)
Light Gray Cat: Female. Mottled pattern in fur. 2d20 attack damage, but only if it feels like attacking, or wants food. Immortal, invulnerable.
Dark Gray Cat: Male. Solid dark grey fur. 1d4 attack damage, according to table*. Immortal, invulnerable.
*If facing combat, when a loud spell effect lands, or natural phenomonen (lightning) occurs, roll a 1d6.
<3: Cat flees, and hides until end of combat. Will not draw attention, or otherwise be noticed by opponents. Will also not respond to summons, or do anything until combat has ended.
    4-5: Cat attacks nearest creature.
    6: Cat attacks nearest opponent.

Whisper does seem like a Mary Sue. And I particularly like "after being helped by a unicorn while lost in a wood" which has a real "my first RPG character" vibe to it. Would probably work well in some kind of self aware parody of a D&D session.

Everard is brimming with RPG potential though, especially with the fickle familiars, so good job on that one.

Whisper came about because I wanted to create a bow-focused assassin for NWN. You know what's extra fun? Sneak attacks with flaming arrows. If only there were fireball arrows, like Baldur's Gate had... The background was just kind of conjured up on the fly, to explain why a ranger/assassin was helping a city with it's problems.

Ironically, Everard is just full-bore Mary Sue.

I've a few more, I simply haven't had the time to sit down and take them from notes/thoughts and put them here. I intend to, in time.
