So I just got to Tulla, and I've got 5 in Temporal, and the stupid bint master won't let me become master myself because I'm too tech. She hasn't got an amulet on her person to steal so I could become a master without her consent, and I can't think of a way to diminish my aptitude so she'll let me do the test. Any ideas? My aptitude is 100 tech, so I don't think the dark helm or whatever it's called would even affect my aptitude because it probably wouldn't have any magical power available to me. I'm also level 48 so I can't really buy enough spells now to turn it around, I always assumed just having the spells was enough to become a master and it was aptitude independent.
The Dark Helm will actually work. Cursed items may have more opportunities to fail with a high-tech character, but their cursing effects are always at full strength.
I think Drog's patch fixed the Dark Helm bug though, so he'd only get to 80 tech with that, and I doubt you'd be able to do the mastery thing with that much tech aptitude.
I'll give it a try anyway, but yeah 80 aptitude will still probably be too high. I guess it's no great loss, this is the first character I've leveled up herbology fully with so I guess enough cure alls will deal with the large fatigue drain. Still if I'd had known I would have probably rushed through the main story with a positive magical aptitude and then raised my tech after tulla.
The unpatched dark helm won't work for TA 100. You need to start using it by the time your TA is about 10 or 20, or else the magickal power available will be 0% and there's no getting it back.
Huh. Is that the case for the blackwater blade? I'm sure I ruined a high-tech character with that thing.
No idea about the blackwater blade, but the dark helm's magickal power available quotient relates directly to the allignment effect. 50% = -10 allignment etc.
