Does anyone know what this could be?

Well, completely apart from what YOU'VE said, that's a very useful little overview that Faye has written there. Back to your particular topic, I've no idea.

At a guess, some way of making it either:

    A. a permanent spell

    B. Lock a person on the spot, making it cost less mana than stasis. However the involvment of two top level spells negates this, so I'd go with option A.

I was thinking about the permanent spell, too, but I can't think of a way to combine them...

And there's the general rule of thumb: If in doubt, go with C.

I'm willing to accept C. I have to admit, though; I definitely tried to see if it was true.

After thinking about it I may have an idea of what he was on about.
Mind control an NPC. Take them into a room. Lock the door. Teleport away leaving them there. You could try putting everyone in the game in one room and then perhaps throw in some beasts or explosives.
Still a bit lame I suppose but I can't think what else could be done with those spells. (Apart from option C).

It's simple really: with the dominate will spell you can get someone to obey your commands, so you can lure them into a room. After you've gotten them into the room, you 'magelock' all entrances. After which you teleport to another place. Basically you lock them up for all eternity. Kinda lame, I don't even know if it really works, if they're stuck there forever I mean. You can do more of these combination-spells within the realm of Arcanum btw. Some might consider that fun.

You'd have to dump them first, like, tell them to wait. Wouldn't they just disappear after you left the area for a month ?

IF the shops don't re-spawn owners...I see very little point in simply stashing the owners somewhere.....

Might as well make a shop where you can BUY followers (animals, monsters, NPCs)

That would be orgasmic. I would definitely buy myself some followers. I'd like to see their reactions to me. If I piss them off, I could be all, "Hey! I don't pay you to have emotions!"
And they'd say, "But you don't pay me at all..."
And I'd say, "That's right, bitch. Now, shut up and carry my shit!"

Well, you do buy Gar. But he doesn't seem to acknowledge it.
