Only if we find some clean, non-polluting nuclear weapons.

My opinion on Moore is simple; he's entertaining, but he's a fucking liar most of the time.

If I want political commentary or anything of that nature, there are but two men who I trust: John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. It says a lot when political COMEDY is more trusted than more 'acceptable' political commentary.

(Plus, Stephen Colbert is kinda hot, which doesn't hurt any.)

You should have seen an underdressed Stewart dancing with Springsteen. That was sexy..

Trying to find the video, it's on the Daily Show site, but "Sorry, videos are not currently available in your country." Which is crap, because I'm sure they used to be.

Stewart has been moving into serious journalism lately. Have you seen his show recently? He's asking people the toughest questions, and his writers are pounding his points home with painstaking evidence composed of a decade of footage about whatever he's talking about. It's insane.

No, I haven't seen it for a while. Maybe it just got harder to be funny when Bush went. At least he provided a pretty steady source of material.

Depending on what country you live in, you should be able to find the videos. In Canada, they are kept on the Comedy Channel website.

The Daily Show is still funny. I found they used Bush as a crutch far less than was to be expected from a political entertainment show in the first place, which allows them to still be clever now.

My favorite last week was when the British correspondent went to the bookstore and tried to read Palin's book to some little kids, and one of them said "I would rarther kill myself than read that book".

Lol, I remember one very funny bit in the runup to the election where they ran a video on Palin going rouge. I really need to start watching it again.

Gah no, it doesn't work here, which is rubbish because there are a couple of other things I want to watch from that site. I had no idea Clarence Clemons was a guest on the show, but hopefully the videos will become available at some point.

I'm in England, that one didn't work either, but thanks for looking Arthgon. It's weird, I'm sure those links used to work for me.

I agree. The more clothes he wears, the better he does look.

I'd phrase it differently: He looks worse the less clothes he wears.

You've managed to make a claim without making it clear what that claim is. What does it say, exactly? I'm inclined to believe it says what others here have already stated in this thread: that American people seek entertainment, not information. I don't think that the degree to which the layman trusts a satire of journalism should say anything about the integrity of said journalism.

I believe The Daily Show and Moore's work both provide an essential service to the apathetic masses, and that is that they raise awareness of issues that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Also, sorry, as is frequently the case, I'm late to the party. Concerning the original topic, it's as if I'm reading the gospel according to Boxxy.

My girlfriend and I are converting. In Canada, we can mail in to be officially ordained ministers, so we're considering marrying people under the word of Ceiling Cat.

Davis - here in Australia, people generally believe that Stewart and Colbert are more reliable and less biased than any other American political commentator who dares to squidge their way across our screens.

P.S. If you ever imply I'm American again, I will hunt you down.

...and a fair number of Americans, myself included, as well.
