Does Magical Aptitude adversely affect Lockpicking (or any of the 4 tech skills, for that matter)? I'd like to make a magical thief, but Unlocking Cantrip is a bit loud, and requires too much magical aptitude to use on difficult locks. -Poiuyt Man
Hi and welcome to the board :wavey: No it doesn't really effect lockpick or pick pocketing or gambling BUT it will affect gun fire and anyother tech skill that requires you to build stuff (like explosives or electrical)....
Yes, it affects it. It will push your aptitude a little toward technology. You will have to use unlocking cantrip if you are a mage, sorry.
But you don't IF you don't need a high MA for dammage spells or some such. I have several lockpicking mages. Also several who use UC. You can pick locks as good as a techie of the same skill. You can boost DX with AoF & get through locks that you would not be able to touch with UC untill your MA was over 70%. Lock dificulty goes from 1 - 100. UC works on Lock difuculty / MA. No crit sucsess. 3 points in lockpick = 60% BUT you can crit your way through bigger locks. Remember, there is no one way to do ANYTHING in this game.
