How in the hell can you not? It's been all over the newspapers for the last six months or so.

I'm not a martyr! I'm not a prophet! Yea, I hadn't heard about Laci Peterson, but I did look up her on google, and I must say it's interesting. *nods sagely*

 

it's not intersting, it's crap. some unknown pregnant chick dies, possibly at the hands of her husband, and suddenly everyone in town wants to pretend that they knew her, and she was practically a saint. while i feel bad for her family, i think the over reaction was retarded.

 

I googled it and all this NBC shit came up with all these snippets of useless information so would someone please elaborate for my lazy arse?
I got the stuff about her death at the hands of her, what I assume was her husband but it says nothing about her being a saint or people over-reacting about it.

 

everything is an over reaction. thousands of people have died before and since, but she somehow got national attention. there was a shrine outside her house, and there was a petition for awhile to send to the pope to ask if he would canonize her--even though she wasn't catholic. people around her just went insane. there's still cars with "save laci and conner" stickers, and some people have kept the "missing" posters from when she disappeared. until the trial was moved, everyday there was a front page article along the lines of "we're not allowed in the courtroom, but we know they're talking about legal crap inside." totally absurd, and fairly annoying.

 

I'm totally anti-Laci Peterson/Elizabeth Smart/Random Bitch who was Killed or Kidnapped. The stories are all overplayed, and why the hell should the rest of the country care?

 

exactly. if they have to make a big deal about it, at least confine it to the city where it happened. what the fuck do people in florida care what happens here?

 

I couldn't agree more. If somebody gets kidnapped or murdered or raped, why is it national news all of a sudden? Unfortunately, CNN is constantly playing where I work, so I watch it sometimes because it's marginally more interesting than my job. Today, they played the same story of an email rumor about a random football player saying that he was gay. And then, they played his public denial of homesexuality! WHO THE FUCK CARES!

 

oh man, i watched that all day, too. what the hell?!? like we care if he's gay, or if someone says he's gay. give me real news, dammit! don't make me watch fox, where 60% of viewers still think there were weapons of mass destruction...

 

I think that "weapons of mass destruction" should be eliminated from the language. Call the damn things nukes, or atomic weapons, or nuclear arms, or something! WMD takes too long, and the term doesn't apply to anything except nukes anyway. Biological weapons do not destroy on a mass scale, thus excluding them.

When a murder goes national here, it's usually because someone fucked up the investigation, and people can't stop pointing fingers. That Jayden Leski case is a fucking perfect example. I got so damn sick of hearing about that kid - hurry up and lock everyone who could have done it up until they rot and let Death sort them out already.

 

Just to elaborate Jayden Leski was a toddler who got abducted, tortured and killed. The case has been closed and re-opened too many god damn times. There seemed to be a public out-cry but I didn't notice anything apart from abit on TV. But I'm not a main stream faggot so I don't watch too much of it.
