One of the few show I would try to watch, was always getting bumped. Now cancelled. Heard they are going to have it out on DVDs in Europe - NOT THE US. Hmmmmmmm. It was from WHERE? (well, yeah, probably inked in an Asian country, but you know what I mean).
Also, a Futurama game (which will probably suck) that will only be released in Europe.
Now, is it me, but, something seems amiss here???

Simpons is better to me. Covers all the aspects of a family. Not that I don't like Futurama, it's just too simliar to Simpsons (the way they draw it). In my country the stations don't screen the latest seasons of sitcoms and cartoons so I can't comment on whether it's still funny.

Britain - hmm. Well, the Nanny was good.

Don't make me come over there, Tzehoong.

Ask the venerable prof of Englishology (threedogs) and he'll give you a list as long as his ape-like arms of fictitious commonly held faults of the English. If he ever tries to include comedy as one of them, I'll do something very unpleasant (invite him to dinner, maybe).

I'm far from being a nationalist, and believe most traits ascribed to nations or races are born of ignorance or pride, but we do seem to produce a lot of good comedy. Even given that humour is cultural, our comedy is often well received around the world.

Maybe it's because we're all laughable characters. Maybe it's because if we didn't laugh we'd cry. Maybe it's something in the jellied eels.

It's the dry, sarcastic wit that makes British comedies so funny. "Fawlty Towers" was, in my humble opinion, the funniest show of all time. I love John Cleese.¹ Shame it only had like, what, 11 episodes? Me and my dad love that show and will watch the same ones over and over.

¹Not in the way you're thinking. I wanna tear him up.

Same here. If you like Fawlty Towers because it is dry, you'd possibly like the Blackadder series as well. Check it out of you get a chance.

    *Assumes his impressive professorial mien*
There have indeed been many unconfirmed reports of English humor¹. However, many field studies of didactic and polydactic social patronage customs have revealed an underlying English fascination with cross-dressing men. Apparently there is an almost pavlovian response among Englishmen to seeing a man in woman's clothing.

¹See Brookings, Bablish and O'Flannery, Englishmen and their Little Black Dress- Culture, Gender Identity in The British Isles, Van der Peter University Press (1997).

Contrary to what you all might be thinking, this actually refers to our tendency to throw merringue cakes at men in dresses.

Since someone dug this thread up...

Now it seems like Futurama is going to be back next season? What the hell is going on here? Was it ever really canceled?
