Meh giving someone the banhammer for stating their opinion on a game they think has potential for LP only proves the banner wishes he came up with the idea first and is lashing out.

I remember oregon trail from way back, I think they made a facebook application for it but then facebook applications are the devil so lets never speak of that again.

Can you give us a hint of the game you are going to use Xiao?

Hooo, lot of stuff to refer to.

    In short:
    * Oblivion - no. I hate that game.
    * NWN the original - I have a great mod that I reckon you guys will enjoy, plus I might do Hordes of the Underdark too.
    * Never heard of Oregon Trail.
    * I recently bought Fallout 1/2 but haven't played them, so I could potentially do them at some future date.
    * The first game is a secret, but I'll say this much - the main character apparently shares a great many of my personal traits, including a somewhat lazy streak and the desire to not have to work to get through life. :D

You may have whatever opinion you wish, but you may not quote quoted quotes.

I think this idea has potential. I'll watch probably the first one, and then partake in the latter ones.

Xz: I sat here for several minutes, debating on whether or not I should quote your post, and then just add "what he said."

But Fallout 3 like Oblivion has so many ways of overcoming situations.

Personally, I've always found the ability to kill anyone the most boring way of interacting with a situation. Far too many games focus on this power. Oblivion, was boring as hell (apart form the Dark Brotherhood quests). F3 may be polished to the point where it shits golden bricks, but it still has no face (by which I mean the NPCs and atmosphere are completely uncompelling), making it boring as hell.

Go play VtmB to find out the difference between a good game with shitty production and a shitty game with good production.

Too bad good games rarely have good production though.

Fallout 3 wasn't actually that bad, If it had been called "Wasteland Explorer" or "Fall of DC", we would have loved it. It just wasn't a good Fallout.

VtmB! I just finished a play through of that along with Redemption a while back. Would make a great lets play, considering some of the persuasion/seduction/intimidation/domination lines in the patch.

Either way, looking forward to reading this. Hell, if I could be bothered I might even do one.

Minor Update - The game I have lined up goes on sale next week and my copy should arrive about a week after that if the past is any indication. Because I'll actually own a real copy, I'll also grab an emulated copy to vastly simplify the process of taking screen shots and so forth. The instant the LP is over, I'll delete it.

    What game is it?

EDIT: Also, Oregon Trail is a classic from the 1980s and early 90s. You had to bring your family across the historic Oregon Trail on an Ox Cart, and they would die of Cholera and stuff. Quite a few people have done fantastic articles on it. I even did one for high school once, and got full marks (because hey, it's that good).

I still have Oregon Trail screenshots on my computer, and since my screensaver is set to "Image Slideshow", Vista causes them to occasionally show up on my screen while I am sleeping. It is great to wake up in the morning and see various Oregon Trail scenes scroll by with various random effects. It gets even better if something amazing (one time, a comic strip where Jughead commits suicide with a revolver popped up over "[Your girlfriend] died of Dysentery") rolls across right afterward. Usually, I just see a lot of graph paper and pen and paper game material, but sometimes something hilarious (often from the picture thread on this forum) will appear. And sometimes it is porn.

Please play/replay Fallout 2 to see the true meaning of "many ways of overcoming situations" =)

I have to agree. Another case of prada wearing the devil. (Yes, you may stone me for that.)

For the sake of being on topic, I used to watch let's plays and occasionally enjoyed them. From what I know of Xiao, (I have been lurking off and on here for a couple of years) this one should be pretty good. One question, though, are you going to do text and ss or is going to be all video with text or voice over?

Wha- ? Are you sure you actually played Fallout 2?

You can even sex your way through the game with a female character if you want. The stealth skill actually worked at things (unnoticed assassination of... you know). Even in normal quests you could choose different paths. Double-cross or double-double-cross people. Yada yada yada.
