    Lord Zanza takes the podium:

"My fellow Lords, I would like to put forth a motion of peaceful expansion. Let us build four new cities on the mainland in order to increase our economic and scientific output for the future. Unlike our barbaric neighbours we shall show our higher intelligence by planning for the future."

Lord Zanza submits a form with possible names for cities. On the form the following names are written:

    Dernholm
    Roseborough
    Stillwater
    Qintarra
    Tseng Ang

    Cattan
    Tulla
    Vendigroth
    Thanatos
    Morbihan
    Stonewall
    Shrouded Hills
    Hardin's Pass
    Gorgoth Pass
    Vooriden
    Shades Beach
    Razors Pointe
    Falcon's Ache

(Contrary to possible popular belief, I have not killed the game. Continuing on.)

Our ships from Black Root proceed to explore this "Black Sea" region. The 2nd Tarantian will rest in Antium, renamed Dernholm.

Ashbury still develops, while Caladon starts a development program under Lord Grakelin's governence. Kree has a goldmine and Tarant is close to complete development of its rural areas. And the 2nd Tarantian sets out of Dernholm, having raised enough militia to protect the city from barbarians.

Meanwhile, we officially meet the Chinese. They demand Literacy from us as tribute. We ignore their threats. They declare war on us. Oh well, the 1st Tarantian is "forced" to cursh the losers now.

We discover Invention. Time to build a workshop and develop more advanced weaponry quick.

Years pass with our army in Europe chasis dead trails, until one day, we find a lone Roman city. We proceed to bombard it.

A few years later, as a continuation of our colonization efforts, we settle a city near the Aquitaine. We name it Vooriden.

The Chinese catch us off-balance though. They destroy the artillerymen of the 1st Tarantian. The archers will now only serve as reconnaissance though, as we have developed GUNPOWDER. This new weapon should give us the much needed edge we need in destroying all our enemies.

We find another city, Pisae. We capture it...

...and VICTORY. The European continent belongs to us now. With this, I propose a transition to a Republican body, and achieving peace with the Chinese while colonizing the continent and arming up. When we are fully militarized with Riflemen and great coffers, we should become invincible.

Now debate, the House of Lords.

    Lord Arthgon stands up:

I put forth a motion to the other Lords of our Glorious Land, that we should achieve peace with the Chinese, indeed. This to prevent that those heathens overrun our country who has been blessed by the Gods. Until our army are fully militarized with Riflemen and great coffers, we will watch them for their weaknesses in their defenses.

Lord Zanza yells out in the forum:

"Nonsense, We must build an even bigger army and attack these foolish Chinese. How dare they declare war on us, they nothing nothing of us and that shall be their downfall. Build me an army, I will lead the troops myself and conquer the Asian Continent for you."

    (Yes to republic as well)

You know, it figures that the one time Arthgon writes (sp?) is when he spells something correctly.

Lord Dark Elf empties his brandy, then approaches the podium.

"We shall indeed direct our army boots to stomp oriental faces indefinitely, but attacking empires of such might requires certain protocol. I would rather we secure our position in Europa, exploit its resources and properly prepare for the upcoming conflict. After all, a temporary peace treaty with the vile Chinese would not be a concession, but rather the proverbial calm before the storm."

So, we rapidly begin to colonize whole Europe. We declare peace with the Chinese for 200 gold, make the transition to first the Republic, then to Democracy. We make huge techonological leaps, we become very rich and our cities are full of wonders.

Of course, that does not please a lot of people.

This is just one of many. The French, the Sioux, the Zulu and the Chinese all sign pacts against us. The Zulu try to attack us on their own, but fail miserably.

Anyways, about 1500AD, this is how our empire looks like.

We are also the richest country on Earth. What to do now?

(Because I am now preparing to go to Montreal, I find posting more and more images very tiresome - especially since the game has more pace with many more cities and more enemies. Perhaps I can send the save to one of you, or we can just call it a history and close it?)

P.P.S. Razor's Pointe and Shades Beach should probably switch names.

If this game continues in one way or another, we need to decide on a direction of expansion. We could brave the high seas, take Iceland and Greenland and conquer America from there, or go eastward (though Russia is always a perilous to invade). I guess we could also reign supreme in Africa.

Great to hear. I believe our empire is in quite a fine condition - we had erected a Statue of Liberty to symbolize our versatile and powerful regime, and a young inventor named Leonardo had opened a workshop to pioneer Inventions.

(I shall send you the stuff. Send me your email though, I can't see how to send files via PM)

The citizens are in an uproar! Demanding a new direction for their kingdom. Willoughsby, eager to please his subjects orders Lord Mesteut to stand down as Chief Advisory and appoints the battle-hardened Lord Zanza to take his place.

"Before I get to business I would like to honour the efforts of Lord Mesteut. Though the citizens of our nation demanded he stand down what he accomplished cannot be denied. My fellow Lords, tell me, what shall our new direction be? Rumours of another continent across the ocean have been entering our taverns. citizens on the streets talk about nations that claim to be as great as our own to the east. Where shall our attention be directed?

"What is the status of our naval technology", asked Lord DE. "If we are to take the expansion of our empire due west, it is imperative that we make sure we have enough troops and seaworthy ships to brave the dangers that no doubt await. We must also consider the strategic gains of each direction of expansion. Colonizing the New World would doubtlessly see us rich, but could we afford spreading our military might across the globe, what with the unwashed hordes threatening our eastern border?"

I think I should give the explanation:

    - We can build Galleons for transportation, which are fine. However, we can also build steel-clad Destroyers, because we have invented Electricity. This makes us able to annihilate the garrisons to port cities at will.
    - We can also train marines now, which makes us able to launch Amphibious Assaults from our ships, directly to cities. They wield advanced weaponry, and they are unstoppable when they attack from the sea.

Although, a Democracy at war is prone to unrest. It would be such a pity though, won't you agree, if our democracy-loving Willoughsby who got me replaced, was in turn replaced by that socialist Donn Throgg, right? Nobody would be unhappy in a war under Communism.
