What RPG's today appearantly lack, and have a great need of, seems to be:
Rather then brilliant story, immersion, or intellectual content, which RPG's clearly have in great excess. I've said it before: Arcanum is the greatest RPG yet. Until Troika bands together again for another masterpiece, I'll be looking at the potential in other venues, like Visual Novels, and the indie community.

OT: Shadowman is kinda fun, but I find that it's not quite as accessible to people using kayboard and mouse instead of a PAD.

What I feel made Arcanaum (and the first Fallout games) excellent was their classless character system. The story was great as well, but the level of flexibility granted to the player when developing his character into an entity that could actually assume a role is second to none.

The Gamecube and N64 were weak, but they weren't a joke. I immensely enjoyed them. Ergo they fulfilled their purpose.

They could never make a sequel to Arcanum, it will only disappoint the fans who have placed it on a pedestal. It would definitely get the Fallout 3 treatment.

Well, I'm going to go make a custom background and play it.
