King Preator's taxes question

I went to Black root and talked to the mayor. He told me to get a dagger off of some thieves, so I went and killed all the thieves and got him back his dagger. I also tried to convince him to join Cumbria again and he said he'd do it if I gave him the dagger, so I gave him the dagger and he thanked me. I'm not sure if he joined or not though. When I talk to him again it gives me a diologe option something like "will you reconsider giving me the taxes" and he always responds "no", even though he gave me the taxes already. Is this a bug? I was able to complete the quest by giving the taxes to King Preator but I'm not sure if he really joined Cumbria again or not. Anyone know if there is a way to tell if I did this quest correctly or not?

 

by the way, I had the newspaper that talkes about declaring war with caladon and i never got the diolog option to give him the paper, might that be a bug as well?

 

in your journal, if it isn't bothed and not open, then it should be completed.

 

I completed the quest sucessfully a few times. One time though I did the same as you and never got the taxes and the quest remained open. I just had to bag it.

 

Ok well I know the quest is completed because its green and crossed out in my journal, but that just means that I got the taxes. I wanted to know if there was a way to tell if the mayor actually rejoined Cumbria or not. You can steal the taxes and that doesn't mean he rejoined Cumbria. Is there a way to tell if he rejoined or not?

If you have given the taxes to the King in Dernholm then Blackroot has rejoined with Cumbria. That's all there is to it.
