Hi ! I've got a problem with Kna Tha. I spoke with Clarissa Shalmo but I did not accept her quest on the first place. I continued my way and returned later to get it. The quest is now written in the quest book, but the location isn't marked on the map ! I'm now in quite a mess. I searched in the forum, and I found things about a certain file : gamearea.mes. Thing is : I haven't found this file at all... http://www.terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/view ... hp?t=13943 Here I've seen the line : {58}{91902, 39305, 0, 0/K'na Tha/A place of ancient magick rumored to contain Azrams Star./Radius:-1} (thanks rroyo) I believe that modifying the radius will make the place to appear, but I don't have the gamearea.mes file... Is there a way to force the game to mark the Kna Tha location within the save file? Or to change the radius so that when I walk next to the location it appears on the world map?
Ok like this may be way over my head and I know I shouldn't answer things when I am drunk but isn't there a book in Caladon that pinpoints the location?
You could modify the gamearea.mes. What you'd have to do is use the dedat.exe tool from the downloads page. Something-X's Undatter tool? You'd have to dedat the Arcanum1.dat Arcanum2.dat etc. until you find where it's hidden. Then move that entire de-datted folder into your Modules folder. Then, edit the .mes file via textpad and re-dat it using world-ed. That's my theory on how you'd accomplish that. Dunno if it'd work *shrug*. Alternatively, you can simply travel to 1441 W/617 S. Here's a spoiler pic (contains locations of other locations in that area): [http://ras.teamsapd.com/KnaTha.jpg]
Thanks RunAway ! I did as you told me, and it worked ! I changed the radius so that when I passed near it, the spot appears on the map. Thanks again for your help ! Zanza. : a book in Caladon? Which one?
Have you got the full list of locations in the file? Because I only have this : // // Area -- List of areas in the module // X-Coord, Y-Coord, WM-X-offset, WM-Y-offset /Name /Description./Radius:<#> // // Coords are on the main world-map, in tiles. Radius is detection radius // (in sectors), in other words, the # of sectors that the player must pass // near it on the WorldMap to make it visible if it isn't already known; // default value is 5. // The WM-#-offset values are used to position the name text in the worldmap, // if it the worldmap is available. User mods can leave these as "0, 0". // {0}{0, 0, 0, 0 /A Place Unimportant/This is the unknown area.} Plus the line I added : {58}{91902, 39305, 0, 0/K'na Tha/A place of ancient magick rumored to contain Azrams Star./Radius:20} If you have all the locations list could you please paste it here? I think that the {1} should be the crash site... Zanza : no problem. Even the names of the elves are similar... Dak Taan, Belaan t Sera... Moreover, you were drunk (too much time spent in the Sour Barnacle ).
You do not have the correct gamearea.mes I believe that's the default gamearea.mes you get when starting up a new module. That file itself is located in Arcanum(?).dat\Module Template\mes You may need to extract the Arcanum.PATCH1 Arcanum.PATCH2 etc. to find the correct file. Or perhaps the Modules\Arcanum.dat or perhaps try another one of the Arcanum1.dat Arcanum2.dat etc. files. Here is the proper gamearea.mes: http://ras.teamsapd.com/gamearea.mes Inside the soured barnacle? Hardly. I think Zanza IS the soured barnacle. Har har har....
Just imagine me as one of the NPCs in the bar who tells you to mind your own business lest you want a barrel of poison on you which unless you have some for of anti poison is such a bitch you will eventually die... I hated those guys.
I can't find it. I found 2 gamearea.mes, one in arcanum3.dat and another in arcanum4.dat. Both files are almost blank, just the 0 0 0 0 and the descrpition paste above. I have done the same thing as for new backgrounds. I put a copy of the file in a "mes" folder, along with the gameback.mes file (in which you can see for example : "Demi-God" background : + 20 in CH and BE, ten times the starting money, but no techs or tech skills can be learned at all . No lockpicking, no firearms, no techs...) I did not find a "good" gamearea.mes... And now the problems start. Because of my modification (not so good in fact), other locations doesn't appear now... Hellllp ! I dunno what I've done, but I think it's due to the gamearea.mes i've created in the mes folder... Zanza : poison is nothing compared to a looking glass rifle. I shot the NPC... But I did not shoot the constable ^^ :minigun: :akimbo: :hippy:
...so Joffreyjojo, is there a reason why you necessarily need to spend your time editing the game to get K'na Tha marked on your map, instead of simply going to the exact location and getting what you need from there?
